Airbag Message

Everytime someone sits in the passager seat in my E500, I get the following message:

"AIRBAG ACTIVATED, PLEASE SEE MANUAL"

When the seat is vacated the following message appears:

"AIRBAG DEACTIVATED-PLEASE SEE MANUAL"

The manual is pretty vague on this issue, does anyone know what this means and what initally caused the message to appear?

Thanks.

My '05 CDI did it for one day, several weeks ago. Turning the car off and restarting didn't clear it, but it has not returned.

Mercedes E350, E550s on it's way!
Weight sensors in the passenger car seat send a message to your display when someone sits down or leaves. This message just tells you that the airbags have just activated or deactivated for safety purposes or just a reminder. No worries. They deactivate when no ones seated and activate when someone is.

When you need to worry is if someone is seated and it pops up passenger side air bags deactivated

Dont worry about it. But take it to the dealer to make sure everything is working out fine.

Airbag Message - Dealer says it's normal behavior

I took my car into the dealer with this problem and they told me it was normal behavior. They said they tried it on several E's in the showroom and got the same result.

My car continues to do it, and I assume all is OK. It only happens when someone sits in or gets up from the passenger seat while the engine is running, not when the car is turned off.

Ours did it once when the seat was moved against an obstruction.

Right. If the person sits in the seat before the car is started I don't think it will do it. If you start it, the WSS system recognizes the seat as empty and THEN someone sits in the seat it will display the message. Mine does it all the time.

My '05 didn't do that, and my '07 doesn't do that. I pick up and drop off front seat passengers frequently and have never seen that message.

Yea, strange, it didn't occur in my 2006 until about 8000 miles.
