Looks just like the package my emblem came in. Is the problem that it's made in Spain? That doesn't mean anything. DaimlerChrysler makes or gets parts all over the world.

it's not the matter where is made this emblem.
for me it can be made in Djibouti.

That depends upon what you mean by "original." It's not what originally came on the hood of a W211, obviously. I believe that it's the "original" hood emblem from some other Mercedes model, but I don't know that for a fact. I didn't like the stand-up Tristar emblem on the hood, I bought a badge like you did and put it on the hood, I like it, and that's the end of the story for me. There have been other threads about the various M-B emblems for sale out there, and at this point I'll have to let somebody else who knows more about that step in. Sorry.

As far as easy to install - if it's like the one I got, no, it's not easy. The bolt coming off the back of the badge is too short for the bracket (not shown in your picture) that goes over the bolt, when installed on a W211 hood. That's one reason I think the emblem was intended for another model. I ended up losing the bracket between the steel layers of the hood and I had to make up a larger one myself to install the badge.
The one you have may be different from the one I got - not sure.

Methos,
Thats the same kit as i bought,
plug the white caps through the holes, turn you existing funny looking screw 1/4 of a turn anticlock wise to remove from above bonnet, place plate with the two nipple type marks at 12oclock & 6oclock tighten nut firmly, press badge into place.
The badge is OEM the rest 3rd party. Hope this helps!

I'm not an E owner (yet), so I can't say whether I would prefer a flat badge to the standard standing star badge.
I do know my wife would freak if I told her I wanted to remove & replace the stock one.
She thinks the standing star is very cool looking.
David, counting the days till my 550 arrives.
