Jerking

Guys I know many of you talked about this problem a lot, but I am not getting a solution.

the car jerks when shifting upwards or downwards between the first gear and the second gear when the rpm is less than 1500.

I don't have the valeo radiator.

the dealer told me that they did all the service campaigns of my car. the service campaign didn't have anything about flashing ECU.

I took it twice to the dealer, they did gear adaptation. The car run so smooth for one week then it goes back to jerking.

What is the problem.

Try resetting the ECU per these steps:

1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.

2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.

3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.

4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.

If your car is closing in on 100,000 km, I would try something simple like replacing the spark plugs. I changed the spark plugs on our 03 E320 and noticed much improvement in the low speed jerking felt in rush hour traffic. Fuel efficiency also improved a bit.

Edit: Our car has about 68,000 miles

Well, that lets me to beleive that you are seeing what everyone else is seeing when it somes to the 7G gearbox. It happens in my car with less than 8K miles on it. If I reset the ECU and the adaptive part of the gearbox it goes away as well but comes back.

I mentioed it to my local dealer and they said that this is the way it works. If you try the same in comfort mode you will not feel it. That will make the car start in 2nd gear as opposed to 1st. By design..... you can argue that the design is flawed but it doesn't change the way it works. Maybe MB will do better in future versions of the E.

Guys,

there is a new update for the 7G tranny. Mine was updated last month and it shifts super smooth now. I'll get an occassional harsh downshift when it's cold and only every once in a while when it's warm. Other than that, this thing is silky smooth now.

Spark pluggs

I tried spark plugs, but jerking didn't change. Improvements in fuel consumption or acceleration after changing spark plugs are barely noticeable.

This might be irrelevant but my friend complained to the dealar about the engine rawing up too much before it shifts on his E500 03..After some special fluid test they found tranny fluid in the coolant(and mostlikely vice versa)
since they fixed the seal changed the fluids the car seems to shift fine.

When I reach 1000 miles on my car should I restart my ECU? I have been driving ultra smooth and I think my ecu adapted to this driving?
