Ipod kit.

I am having a slight problem. It seems that the volume off the ipod kit is very low. I have to turn the volume on the car up all the way and even then its not even loud. CD player and radio crank up loud so I know its the ipod kits problem. My old car had a after market ipod adapter that played using the dock at it was plenty loud. Any tips or advice or is something wrong that needs to be reprogramed?

You need to modify the ipod kit to insert a "headbangers amplifier" between the Ipod and the aux in of the car's head unit. It is not a commercial product available for the Ipod Kit, but you can buy one over the counter if you use your Ipod with the Aux in cable. This is the one that connects to the earphone jack on the Ipod, not the multipin connector that carries the song info to the instrument cluster.

There was a revised controller box coming out Sept. 15 that deals with this problem. My dealer changed it free of cost. It will also give you a new menu entry where you can adjust the volume coming from the Ipod.

Edit: Or you can try this: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipo.../eupod-pro-16/

In the USA we do not have built in volume limits on the ipod. I will ask the dealer if anything can be done.

actually there is a volume limiter on current ipods worldwide.

to be sure you are putting out max possible volume, on your ipod go to Settings -> Volume Limit

You will see a blue progress bar with a blue caret/arrow indicating the current max possible volume. If it's all the way to the right, then you have not set a volume limit lower than max-possible.

If it's not all the way to the right, then when you dial the volume all the way up, 'max' only equals where the blue arrow is, so dial the wheel to the far right then click the button to set the new volume limit as 100%.

I tried 3 other ipods. And I know the limit you are talking about. But the euro ipods are limited to like 100db by law in the USA thats not the case. Or maybe its just france that has that limit I cant recall.
