2007 E350 Headlamp Washers

Do the headlamp washers really clean the lamps good? are you suppose to use this feature while your driving or parked? I just got the 07 e350 and i had my friend press the button when the car was parked and i saw the jet come out and spray some soap and water real quick and it doesnt look like its effective, any opinions?

It is supposed to remove the black smutzch that gets on bi-xenon lamps in the wintertime. You can use it anytime you feel the need. It can certainly be used while driving. It is a mandatory feature when the car has bi-xenon lamps. The thinking is that you can clean the lenses while moving to remove dirt that can cause glare to oncoming traffic.

It certainly is not mandatory. Just look at many of the Japanese cars, ie TL etc. They have BIX yet no washers. Its very much a European thing, and MBZ or one of the other companies was the 1st to implement such a system. I like to use it while the car is in motion since it helps keep the spray away from the windshield and what not.

It does clean it, and it is best while moving. It is like spraying your windsheild and not put your wipers on, and travelling at a high speed, the wind, blows the dirt and fluid off the lens. Although I just used it today while at a light as there was a mist on my car from condensation.

Dam these things. Being the idiot I am and not knowing what the button next to the light did I pushed the what I soon found out to be headlight washer button.. Man it made a mess when I was going 25mph.

I think they are only useful like on the SUV's when you run into some mud and need it off while driving. But it would be strange to splash mud up on an E.
