so on our way to santa barbara once and stopped at an exxon (or mobil, same thing) gas station off of parkway calabasas (i have no idea why my friend would fill up from the most overpriced gas station in the west valley) and while we are inside i notice a light blue c230 kompressor outside but the badges on the back said CLK230 and kompressor. I pointed it out and we just rolled over in the gas station. as we come out we point and laugh and the two girls in the car are looking at us like wtf
another time (like 4 years ago) i called out a girl at a party once (and she was so fine, but that wasn't gonna stop me from making her look like a fool). She had a c230 but was was debadged with an AMG badge on the back. called her out in front of all her and my friends. she first lied and said prove it. two minutes later (after getting 20 people outside lol) and showing the 2 piston vs 4 piston amg brakes, oval vs circle fog lights and single exhaust vs dual, she finally admitted her father did it for her. till this day my enthusiast friends remember that night LOL.

gaazmon that story was cool and all but if a girl is fine I don't care if she's got s65 badged on her 01 c230! I'm trying to put my OWN badge on HER back!

The argument here (@ MBWorld) seems to center around the "stop-light" scenario, where there is a BMW 550i, side-by-side with an AMG-badged E350. Of course, the E350 gets scorched.
Later that afternoon. Same BMW 550i - by just flat good luck - pulls to a traffic signal side-by-side with a de-badged E350 that has been adorned with every available AMG aftermarket accessory/component. Needless to to say, de-badged E350 gets slightly even MORE scorched.
BMW guy goes home feeling pretty good, having shown a fleeting glimpse of his taillights to TWO E63s - in the same day.
I have no dog in this fight. My E550 is badged as such, and I'm fine with that.

Brilliant analogy....
Fact is the 350 is very slow from getting off the mark at stoplights, though I've never driven any BMW series at all, I read from an auto magazine how fast the 550i is compared to the 350. With the 350 you have to rev up to the middle of the tachometer just to get a burst of speed (I try not to do that), while the 550i needs just a tad revving to get going. I get scorched sometimes by aggressive Honda, pickup truck, and even minivans drivers when the lights turn green, but you know I say to myself, am the one with the Mercedes Benz (not them). Off course I dust all of them off on the freeway, even just last weekend on I-10 coming back home from IKEA, I dusted a V8 Nissan Titan, as he was trying to race me. I just gave him a little bit of room and passed him doing 100mph (shhhhhh, don’t tell anyone), he tried desperately to catch up to me...eventually he did (after we run out of freeway). He kept looking down at my car, not sure what he was thinking, but was amazed (hopefully he knew the 350 is only a V6, but he’s driving a V8)
Am planning on keeping my 350 for the long haul, but will consider a 550 if the price, mileage and years old is right. (not more than 3yrs).

Am still adjusting to driving the E350 after my ML320 became the family safety car and had to settle for an 05 Accord.

I'm STILL waiting for a honest response from "westcott" but nothing as of yet..???
How many of you guys bashing he "posers" have NBA, NFL or NBA jerseys of your favorite players? Do you wear them? Why would you do that? Poser?
C'mon people, it's a friggin' car. People do what they want with their car. If putting a different badge on it makes them feel good about it, who the hell cares? Let the 550i driver get his cheap thrills.
Someone having an AMG badge on their car doesn't have any impact on yours in any way. If you think it does, you're as deluded as you claim the posers to be, don't you think?
This whole line of the thread sounds like a bunch of 15 year olds arguing over some stupid high school crap.

So, Hirabi - are you a Laker? Do you have a championship ring? If not, why would you us that as an avatar or picture in your signature?

I'm a debadger but this is a thread I came to for pics, not drama! Put a fake badge on your car, then take a pic of it, post it, and get mad when you get flamed??? and you wanna fight guys?? C'mon...we're Benz drivers! Take a chill pill. And all you pic posters: stop deleting your photobucket pics! I've been here for years and haven't deleted pics of my W202 from 2003! I wanna be able to show my wife pics of a 211 before I go buy her one and all I see is "pic deleted" messages!!

You're clueless. And/or not a performance car enthusiast.

Just think of it this way... those peoples' cars are wearing their favorite NFL players jerseys. Nothing more.
In what possible way can they be offending you?? If something that simple and insignificant offends you... well, never mind. The story about wrestling with pigs comes to mind.
Say, here's a question for you. If I took 220S, for example, and modified it with an AMG 63 engine, tuned suspension etc etc etc (suspend reality for a minute and assume you can make it all fit and work) but DON'T badge it... am I equally as much a poser as those who put a badge on that doesn't belong there? I mean, c'mon... I'm mis-portraying what my car is, so holy crap, the friggin' world is going to end, right?
And don't get me wrong, I understand being an enthusiast and admire what some folks do to their cars. And scratch my head at others. But in the end, not a single one of those folks has any impact whatsoever on my car, my self esteem or the fact that I like my car the way I have it. Applies here, to my truck and to my Jeep (and Jeepers make you guys look tame!).
[edit: maybe just to tick people off, I'll go get myself an AMG badge and stick it on right next to the Bluetec letters. Imagine that... the first diesel AMG! ]

Bad analogy, bad logic. Clueless once again.
Just forget it and let it go, because you'll never figure it out. Go out and buy yourself a fake Rolex and give yourself a warm and cuddly feeling.

btw, I really don't care what you or other people do. But in the car world, pretending to be something you are not (because you hope people notice and think you're driving something better) is a no-no. Enthusiasts can spot subtle differences and it ends up as egg on the face of the person who does the phony badging.
So go ahead and badge your diesel with an AMG badge. You won't tick anybody off, but they'll get a good laugh at your expense. And hey, maybe you'll make the gallery of rogues here on MBWorld.
btw, there's a forum run by MBUSA/AMG for AMG owners only. And the AMG editor of the site started a thread on posers. So for MBUSA there is even an official "no engine, no badge" mantra.
Here you go, my E63. As real an AMG as it gets. And no badges.

Um, yeah okay. Just to tick people off. Wow, that sounds mature.

In that case, someone should notify guys in Honda Civics to put Ferrari badges on their cars, they'll just be doing the brand a good deed.

I...LOVE...YOUR...CAR !!! That is a beautiful color and thankfully you don't have any gaudy wheels, decals, body kits and any other idiocies on the car. I personally would have kept the silver arrows hood ornament on the front but your flat badge looks nice too. Everyone take note; this is how a proper AMG should look for a grown man. Well done !

Thanks, it's Flint Gray metallic. The flat badge is enameled and I like it but I do go back and forth with the upright star sometimes (easy to change out.)
All is stock. I think AMG/Daimler did a good job themselves, no reason to change it. I'm not concerned about "individualization" since I didn't build the thing in the first place. I suppose the amber reflectors could be switched out.
btw, the AMG wheels are made by Fuchs in Germany. A very reputable and established company. I once went to a popular wheel expert, who sold me wheels for my Porsche, and shopped around for something different. But he told me these wheels are super strong and well-made. He purposely talked me out of it.
Again, thanks for the compliments. But the real applause goes to AMG/Daimler. I have nothing to do with it, except to pay for it. I wish I was the designer, engineer, and builder. Then I'd be proud for a reason!
