Yeah I saw that thread. Might be my best and most inexpensive option.
I wonder if I can do it without changing my rear bumper. I have the stock rear bumper without exhaust tips.

Yeah you can absolutely do it without tips those are just aesthetic. All you have to do is have the J-pipe and no mufflers, and it sounds great.

W211 Lover
This is my 3rd W211. Had a new E320 in 05. A CPO 06 E500 up until 2 months ago. Now I have this 08 E63, my 1st AMG. Needless to say, I'm in love with this car!

Cutting the bumper for tips is a snap. My E500 had the old turn downs and I added black coated AMG style quads to it. Just turned them around backwards, traced them on the bumper and took a sawzall to it. Believe me, I had reservations about doing this. But, it came out perfect and didn't break the bank since I used all aftermarket parts. Also added an X pipe, which I don't recommend, but it did sound like a beast!

The sound was incredible. I just noticed a reduction in my low end. Naturally aspirated cars need back pressure. With the Brabus module and K&N's that I had on the car first, it was noticeably quicker on the ride to the exhaust shop as it was on the ride home. Even after it broke in properly, it sounded better and better and was a monster on the top end, but lacked the low end performance it had before. Just my 2 cents. If you're looking for 'bang for your buck' aggressive sound and supersonic freeway runs, nothing at all wrong with an x pipe.

Very true. One thing about a muffler delete and J-pipe is that I really haven't noticed any performance degradation at all as there is adequate back pressure, but I thought that's what the point of the X-Pipe is - to make sure there is enough back pressure? Or maybe I'm wrong and the point is just to utilize harmonics to get an aggressive sound.

2003 Mercedes E320
New ride
Hey all, first post on the W211 forum. Prior to December last year, I had a beautiful Seahawk green 2000 E320, but a gal in a 1 series Bimmer turned right in front of me and I t-boned her at about 30 MPH. It did less damage to my car then I thought it would, but they still totaled it (my ears were a different story... I couldn't hear for about a day from the airbag going off and I swear they're still ringing).
I lucked out and the insurance company gave me a great payoff, about $3K more than I could have sold it for, but regardless I was still carless. Luckily, this gorgeous '03 W211 came up for sale from a well-respected dealer in Seattle for a great price. While it had a few miles on it (130K), it looks brand new, very well taken care of, so I bought it and absolutely love it. MB made some great changes from the W210, especially in the dash (no more disappearing LED's).
The one thing it lacked, which my W210 had, was some killer wheels and tires. So when I saw a car on the W210 forum with some Brabus Monoblock Type IV's, I knew I had to have me some. A set of 18"ers in great shape popped up on eBay for a reasonable price, so I bought them along with some Pirelli 245/40ZR18 P Zero Neros and installed them on the car on Thursday. While I knew they would look good, they exceeded my expectations not only in looks, but also the ride and handling... the stock were good but these are awesome.
Anyway, enough talk, here's some pictures:

So what's next? From what I read above, sounds like it might be exhausting...

Your pictures didn't come though (at least on my browser). Might try posting on Photobucket, works well for me and it's free! Anxious to see, because my color. is called "Desert Silver" also.

how do the sides fit? and was it any lower than stock non amg sides?
#1472
Thanks guys! Regarding the side skirts, the fit is nice. They are a bit lower on the ends, but I think the more sculpted presentation works better with the aggressive lines of the front and rear bumpers.
