The Best of Mercedes & AMG
@Baggee You're relatively new here but there's a bit of a stigma against non-AMG cars bearing the AMG badging. You can see the entire debate over that here https://mbworld.org/forums/clk55-amg...mg-posers.html. I know it's your car and your opinion, and I didn't pay for the car so it's ultimately up to you if you want to value my opinion or not - but I'm telling you as a fellow Mercedes-Benz owner that those tail lights are plain ugly; reminiscent of some Ford Taurus aftermarket lights I saw around here for a few years, just terrible. At the end of the day this is a forum and a place for discussion and opinions - how you voice that opinion will determine whether or not you come of as an a-hole or not but I'll leave that up to you to judge.

Baggee, hope you dont shy away from this forum. Im sure you'll learn a lot here. First lesson, some people can be very vocal about their opinions, just try not to take it too personal. Hope to read from you soon mate.

Well,i did not know how much hate you have here for amg look-a-like posers ( i readed some posts on link that amgaffalterbach provided in quoted post).
I purchased this car (my 3rd MB) in this condition. My intention was not to be amg pale copy or pose in some way.My intention was just to be different.Somebody before me put front and rear amg bumpers and those "oh my god-puke" tail lights. But,i love it in that way.It looks diferent. There is manny w211 on streets of my city and they all look the same, stock design.Every now and then i hear some comments for tail lights-some say wow, nice, good looking somebody wants to puke.First one are in majority.I found it really good looking, match with car colour.I must say once more-my intention is not to be amg copy but to be different, nothing else. And it works.
Also i must say something to real amg owners from a "poser"point of view.
My car is bone stock 320 cdi with inline six cylinder engine and 204 hp.Only thing i did is some minor chip tunning and added extra 35 hp.With that setting allmost all real amg models can do me only a litlle harm. They can be faster only on extreme speeds 120+ miles per hour. And they all burn hillarious amounts of fuell. My car mpg is 30-33 on normal driving, when pushed to the limits it does not exceeds 20 mpg.If i decide to spend couple thousands and change my exhaust to sport model and put a larger turbo all of them amg's out there will kiss my ****ty diesel *** far from behind...All advantages on real amg models are stupid in comparison with that speccialy price different that goes to $ 50k depending on a model...

That being said the 63 engine... If you don't plan to mod, this is the car for you. But the selling point is the exhaust. oh my glob....I absolutely love the low rpm rumble as your going about thru town. Drop it in manual mode and it roars on the street and even pops when you let go of the exhaust (stock). To be honest, I haven't taken the car past 4,000 rpm. It's ironic I buy an AMG and don't even drive it hard, and I'm perfectly fine with it. It's a different type of appreciation when you have 500 horses on reserve, but can daily drive it like a comfy e350. The 7spd trany is smooth, and on highway cruising at 75ish I have gotten 400 miles to the tank. I find my self almost every night trying to come up with reasons to go and take the car our for a spin.
TL: DR the exhaust on the E63 is awesome. I dare say the car is almost too much for nyc, I find my self going super slow avoiding potholes and just humming along minding my own business.

I think it's safe to say I am staying with the E550 for a couple more years at minimum. My main fear is the difference in maintenance cost between a regular Mercedes and an AMG so please keep us up to date on that, but congratulations in the end man great car!
