I've talked with you a bit before Beejay on the forums and you know that I never hold malice towards anybody (with a few notable exceptions), so thanks for pointing that out.

@Baggee You're relatively new here but there's a bit of a stigma against non-AMG cars bearing the AMG badging. You can see the entire debate over that here https://mbworld.org/forums/clk55-amg...mg-posers.html. I know it's your car and your opinion, and I didn't pay for the car so it's ultimately up to you if you want to value my opinion or not - but I'm telling you as a fellow Mercedes-Benz owner that those tail lights are plain ugly; reminiscent of some Ford Taurus aftermarket lights I saw around here for a few years, just terrible. At the end of the day this is a forum and a place for discussion and opinions - how you voice that opinion will determine whether or not you come of as an a-hole or not but I'll leave that up to you to judge.

AMGAffalterbach, i know exactly what you mean mate. Youre actually one of the people here who helps out and give informative posts.

Baggee, hope you dont shy away from this forum. Im sure you'll learn a lot here. First lesson, some people can be very vocal about their opinions, just try not to take it too personal. Hope to read from you soon mate.

First, sorry on my grammar mistakes, english is not my native language.
Well,i did not know how much hate you have here for amg look-a-like posers ( i readed some posts on link that amgaffalterbach provided in quoted post).
I purchased this car (my 3rd MB) in this condition. My intention was not to be amg pale copy or pose in some way.My intention was just to be different.Somebody before me put front and rear amg bumpers and those "oh my god-puke" tail lights. But,i love it in that way.It looks diferent. There is manny w211 on streets of my city and they all look the same, stock design.Every now and then i hear some comments for tail lights-some say wow, nice, good looking somebody wants to puke.First one are in majority.I found it really good looking, match with car colour.I must say once more-my intention is not to be amg copy but to be different, nothing else. And it works.
Also i must say something to real amg owners from a "poser"point of view.
My car is bone stock 320 cdi with inline six cylinder engine and 204 hp.Only thing i did is some minor chip tunning and added extra 35 hp.With that setting allmost all real amg models can do me only a litlle harm. They can be faster only on extreme speeds 120+ miles per hour. And they all burn hillarious amounts of fuell. My car mpg is 30-33 on normal driving, when pushed to the limits it does not exceeds 20 mpg.If i decide to spend couple thousands and change my exhaust to sport model and put a larger turbo all of them amg's out there will kiss my ****ty diesel *** far from behind...All advantages on real amg models are stupid in comparison with that speccialy price different that goes to $ 50k depending on a model...

I'm so jealous Fila! My next car in the following year (or two most probably) will be either and E63 or CLS55. A friend of mine has one tuned to 490hp (at the wheels at 6000ft of elevation) from Kleemann so an almost 600hp AMG would be nice - there have been some talks about a future sale. Just need to get some cash in line as I don't want a car payment. Let me know how your experience is with the E63 and that will probably persuade me one way or another!

I can't speak for the 55 supercharged engines, since I never drove in them (aside from being a passenger in a sl55). But from research they are the way to go if you are gonna mod and love the beastly low end trq. Only draw backs I got out of it is the small components related to the supercharger can become a pain.

That being said the 63 engine... If you don't plan to mod, this is the car for you. But the selling point is the exhaust. oh my glob....I absolutely love the low rpm rumble as your going about thru town. Drop it in manual mode and it roars on the street and even pops when you let go of the exhaust (stock). To be honest, I haven't taken the car past 4,000 rpm. It's ironic I buy an AMG and don't even drive it hard, and I'm perfectly fine with it. It's a different type of appreciation when you have 500 horses on reserve, but can daily drive it like a comfy e350. The 7spd trany is smooth, and on highway cruising at 75ish I have gotten 400 miles to the tank. I find my self almost every night trying to come up with reasons to go and take the car our for a spin.

TL: DR the exhaust on the E63 is awesome. I dare say the car is almost too much for nyc, I find my self going super slow avoiding potholes and just humming along minding my own business.

Haha no I read every word of that, really glad to hear it sounds like a solid car - as much so as I expected it to be. I am kind of itching for the fun of having a rear-wheel-drive beast that allows me to break traction when I want to... as fun as 4-Matic is it can be a little boring at times on dry roads. It'll be interesting to hear what you think about it in winter though, I assume that ESP is adequate enough to handle snow as long as you don't drive with a lead foot; essentially the same story with 4-Matic. The 55 I am looking at is already modded and 600+ hp sounds like it could get me into trouble pretty easily but then again the 63 represents a lot of what I want in a car. It's a beast he runs 305 rubber out back and on a hot track day still spins 1/3 of the track on over half his runs but he's at 12.8 at 5700ft. Meaning 10/11s at sea level.

I think it's safe to say I am staying with the E550 for a couple more years at minimum. My main fear is the difference in maintenance cost between a regular Mercedes and an AMG so please keep us up to date on that, but congratulations in the end man great car!

Honestly, I like the taillights....look like OEM with clear lenses? Never seen that before.

Also, is it just me or does anyone else want the Euro front bumper strips with no side markers?

was never a fan of the front side markers. Imo, its just too much lights blinking. the front indicators serves the same purpose, it can be seen blinking from the side as well.

Nice car and I do mean it this time, really flattered you bought a new car just because of my opinion. But I think gray is really last year, not very trendy anymore. Go out and buy a white one or a black one. And if you could put some Vossens on there for me that'd be great.

Mr. AMGAffalterbach, your opinion is like a command to me.But,now i see why you dont like my tail lights. You are colorblind. That car on your latest post is not gray.It is blue. Now,escuse me,i must go to fullfil your wishes...
