Muting the nav voice

I have a 2007 e class and I can't find how to mute the nav voice once you put in a destination. On my 2002 c class you just hold the mute button while the nav voice comes on and the voice is muted until you restart the car. The manual seems to be no help.

Thanks

things with and without wheels
I think you have to hold the mute for 2-3 seconds.

That's exactly how it works on my '04 w211. You also get a confirmation of the NAV being muted on the COMAND screen.

Holding the mute button down when the nav voice is on does not work.
It worked on the 2002 c class but no help with my 2007 E. I will try the volume knob when the nav voice is on.

Thanks

While you are getting directions from the Nav unit, lower the comand volume. If you didn't have enough time to lower it press the repeat button & lower again.

Thanks lowering the volume does help. Can you completely turn off the voice so it does not interrupt the music etc.. I would swear in Europe I did this with the mute but I may be mistaken.

I would have to look, but isn't there a setting some where, so that you can adjust to amount of music interrupt? (i.e. how low the music will be turned down during the nav voice?) It's either system wide setting or within NAV section itself.

I have to look the next time I get a chance...

in the nav soft keys you can set up how much the nav voice cuts down the radio sound while it is speaking directions. The net result is that the nav voice is far less obtrusive if you so desire.

In the 2006 (E500), if you press mute while the nav is talking, it will mute it (same is true with volume up/down). If you aren't quick enough to react, you can press repeat to have the nav repeat the last nav instructions. Note...to unmute the nav...you need to press repeat. So once it's muted, if you press repeat...it will UNDO the mute for the nav.

An update

I have a couple of times muted the nav voice. It seems to work when the first instruction comes on and I push and hold and then release and press again the mute button. A screen comes up saying the nav voice will be muted. Again I can find no mention of this in the manual .

Steve, look on page 129 of your COMAND Operator's Manual under "Switching navigation announcements ON/OFF".

Thanks

I just can't get that to work every time unlike my 2002 c class. Maybe there is something wrong. However the mute button does work every time with the radio sirius etc..
