two part question on E500

would 4matic affect 0-60 in a good or bad way?

i believe 4matic makes the car a bit more heavy...thats why i am asking..

second question
do the wheels spin when flooring it from 0-60 on the E500 right now?

1) 4Matic will slow your car down, but not by much.
In my opinion, the improved traction is worth it. If you can get the option do not hesistate to get it.

2) You can make them spin. However they will not spin by default because of ESP.

Anything will spin... it would be harder to spin thought for the 4wheel dirve. I belive the power split is 40/60 towards the rear so it should be easier to spin the rear wheels than the front wheels.

don't confuse 4-matic control with esp.
esp will keep the car from spinning.
4-matic, by the way it works, will limit wheelspin. it senses the wheel that is rotating faster ( by more than 3%) and applies breaking force to that wheel. under hard acceleration the tires might chirp but thats all.

Four wheel drive is over rated

IMHO unless you plan to drive hard on uneven surfaces or gravel, the negatives of four wheel drive outweigh the gains. The tires and suspension will make more of a difference than the 4 wheel drive. It adds weight, hurts gas mileage, and the car will have a tendency to understeer. If you are exposed to snow you will need at least an all season tire or snow tires. Of course SUV's make no sense to me either, but the public obviously loves them too.
