'07 E 550 availability Q

Why are there so many E 350s on dealer lots but so very few E 550's floating around on lots to check out?

The 5.5-liter V-8 is impossible to resist.

barry...

I strongly suggest contacting Ray Catena Mercedes Benz in Edison, NJ. They'll probably get you into an 07 E550 of your liking, faster and at a better price than many dealers in this region, as Ray Catena is the largest dealer in the tri-state area. If you're interested in getting the contact info for my guy there, who I've been going to for over 10 years, shoot be a PM

Already have one on order... I just found it hard to see one in person. Since I have an '04, I'm basically familiar with the car. I just wanted to browse the lots to see the differences... not make any salesmen busy with me & waste their "up".

Yeah, I know the 350's & 550s are the same from outside the car... I just wondered about the scarcity of 550's around.

The man is right, Ray Catena gets more cars than any of the tristate dealers. Also, E550 is much lower production volume as the E350 is supposed to be a volume seller.

Yeah Ray Catena is great. I wanted to buy my car from them, but they didn't really have many used C-Classes at the time. I heard that they are actually one of the largest in the nation, not just tri-state area. At one time I had heard they were #2, behind Fletcher Jones in Cali.

I think besides the engine, the big differences are the E550 has the better climate control system and also has a 4 zone system. There are controls for backseat passengers on the back of the center console. Also the full leather upholstry is standard on the E550. The last difference I can find is that on the E550 P1 includes Active Ventilated seats, whereas the E350 only offers heated seats.

Sorry if you already knew this, I wasn't sure from your post if the sales people answered your questions or not.

Cool, do you happen to know who the others are, I'm just curious. I'm sure probably lots of CA and Florida. Maybe even Glauser has made it there now with their ebay advertising.

yup Catena is one of the largest MB dealers in the country...i think the others are FJ and others in CA FL and those parts of the country...I had a list of the top 500 dealers (all brands) and there were few MB dealers ahead of Catena....but the service IMO, cannot be beat, they provide almost everything you'd wish a service center had ...including a row of customer's Aston Martins that are always there for servicing

Well hopefully next time I can buy a brand new benz from ray. He is a brilliant man and everytime I have visited his dealerships I have left impressed. His new one in Union is really cool, the entire thing is containted indoors. There is no lot for cars to sit and get dirty, they are all upstairs in a beautiful, brightly lit, and climate controlled warehouse.

I got my car at Globe which was the one on The Sopranos. Everytime I go there, there seems to be Sopranos-like customers browsing there, which I always find amusing.

Yup Ray's a great guy, I met him 10 years ago and have nothing but great things to say about him and how he runs his business, in fact my brother had a meeting with him and his managers recently and it seems the man hasn't changed one bit...still motivated and all about service....what can I say, Ray is a smart dude...

...if anyone in the tri-state area is ever looking for a Mercedes, RAY CATENA is THEE place to go...PM me for my contact their, he'll take care of you for sure
