Dumb *** is an appropriate description
Do you think the young man had his seat belt on when he opened the driver's door?
It is funny if he got fired out of the open door and the car became a runaway "train"! How hard is it to explain to the rental company what actually happened?

In the supposed words of Queen Victoria, we are not amused.
People are free to do whatever fool thing they want with their own car on their own private property. They aren't free to do whatever they want on somebody else's private property (e.g., a parking lot) or with somebody else's car. They sure aren't free to engage in reckless driving on a residential public street. It's rude to the people who live there, because of the noise and pollution, never mind the danger. That's just disrespectful of other people, and disrespecting people like that is never funny. What if the genius driving the car had managed to injure his videographer? Jail time. Killed his videographer? Prison time. Very funny indeed.
I live one block away from a five-way intersection and every few weeks some chuckleheads lay down some new donuts on it - but at least they do it after midnight, when nobody is up and about.

any more photos?
Is the Kleeman box visible in the engine bay or is it in the fusebox inside the car (approachable from an open driver's door)?
Did you install it yourself? What is a HID?
I am at two minds whether to get a 2006 in-line six or the new Bluetec.

Its big and Grey!
HID's is a term for the high intensity discharge lights, aka xenons
installed mysefl, took less that a hour, and it mounts under the cabin air filter and a cable is ran to each of the six plugs on top of the engine. gaines about 20hp 50 lb ft or torque. not visiblie at all, and not detected on mercedes star computer.
Dont get me wrong, I love to have fun with my car, but that was just crazy stupid, espially with the car door open.

There is a time and place for everything and it looks like that is certainly not the place or the time.
