discontinue of E500 wagon?

discontinue of E500 wagon?
I am in the market for a wagon and found that the '07 wagon model only carries the E350 and the E63 AMG. Of course I cannot afford an AMG version but want to tradeup my V6 '01 wagon to a V8. My question is to anyone knows why the E500 wagon was discontinued for the US market...and is that bad if I bought a preowned V8 model (meaning lower future resale value and/or no long-term support)? Thanks

The e550 is out there now.... Maybe that will become available in a wagon???
I read the e350 has plenty of power and perhaps the bean counters are thinking a 500 wagon isn't worth it since its being phased out anyway.

The E350 is more of an increase in power over the E320 than the difference between 3.2 and 3.5 litres might suggest. The E350 sedan is around 6.5 seconds 0-60, which is plenty fast and less than a second off the E500's 0-60 time, and the wagon should be about the same.
Curiously, the 5.0 litre V8 lives on for 2007 in the M-B SUVs - the ML, the R and the G-Class. M-B has moved everything else up to the 5.5 litre engine (except for the E-Class wagon).
