Comand / Nav install guide
Does anyone have instructions on how in install nav for you DIY ! Specifically dealing with the MOST fiber hookup (that some may have to do behind the b-pillar). Im starting this project and have read all the threads that I can find. but nothing that clearly covers the b-pillar connections under the door sill. There is a great thread already that covers the in trunk stuff.
Can anyone assist.?

I've just upgraded from the Audio 50 APS to the Comand and Nav drive and too had some trouble finding out how to wire everything up. There should be a spare optical connection in the trunk, next to the fuse box, which needs to go into the back of the nav drive. You should also find the electrical connectors there as well.
However, because it works on an optical ring, it is not the simple case of plug and play, because if there's nothing there today then it would mean a break in the optical ring and nothing would work...! In my case, and I believe most cars that were fitted with MOST and an AG (Audio Gateway) you will need to re-connect two optical wires that run along the rear left and door sill. If you take up the plastic tread and pull back the carpet, you should see a number of orange optical cables. Two of these should not be connected to anything at the moment and from memory they should be labled 14 and XX16. You need to break one of the other loops (again from memory these cables are labled 13 and 20). If you then re-connect the cables, 13 to 14 and XX16 to 20 (if I've got the numbers right) then the ring has now been extended to the spare optical connector in the boot (trunk) and everything will work....
If you have upgraded from Audio 50 APS then the controls on the dash and steering wheel should work straight away. If you've upgraded from Audio 20, then the above might not help you because I don't believe that these cars were fitted with Audio Gateways (AGs)?
Hope this helps, I have got some wiring diagrams somewhere if that helps I could dig them out.

RoundZBenz, thanks very much. That is what I thought. I will take pics when I do this and post them here. Does anyone know how much MB will charge to program/reprogram the MOST loop to get instructions in the dash? Or is that not needed?

What are you upgrading from? Audio 20 / 50? If it's an audio 50 APS, did you have the sat nav? If the answer is yes to these two questions, then you do not need any further programming (which was the case in mine). Otherwise, hopefully someone else will be able to tell you how much it would be in the US. I believe it would need to be a MB Dealer, with Star Diag.

I have the Audio 50 right now (small screen with tape deck), and going to US comand head unit. I dont have any nav, but i visually checked my truck, and my car looks to be pre-wired. (2003 E320) late build

I was lucky as mine came with Audio 50 with the Nav CD drive (integrated) and, therefore, no more programming to make it work on the dash / steering wheel. However, the fact that you have an Audio 50 you should be fine because, from what I know, everything was pre-wired, including the audio gateway (AG). If you didn't have this then I believe it's a real pain to retrofit.
Good luck and let me know how you got on.

Ok, guys help me out with this one. I cant figure out why MB only charges $274 for the DVD Navigation Processor that mounts in the trunk. These things sell for 400-500 bucks used on ebay.
The part number is A211 820 06 85
Why can I get it cheaper band new from a MB dealer? Is it the wrong unit?

Still should not be $6100, specifically when the demand should be more on the NTG2.5 device.
