sirius radio cannot activate

Despite multiple attempts to obtain a signal, I cannot update my subscription. The people at Sirius insist it is a problem with my radio, but it is a factory installed unit on an '07 E550. Anyone else ever have this problem?

I'm uncertain about your reference to "update", but I assume from the rest of your post that you're trying to initially activate Sirius service.

Can you hear the "pre-activation" channel on Sirius? I'm not sure of the number, but it may be Channel 184. Anyway, it's a channel you can hear before your radio is activated. Check your Sirius documentation. If you can hear it, the issue is probably with Sirius. If you can't hear it, the issue is probably with your car. You might be parked in a "dead spot", which Sirius apparently has many of.

Also, as stupid as it sounds, double check that you are giving them the correct Electronic ID Number of the radio.

Also, make sure your car is not in a garage and has a clear view of the sky. If you get 184, you should be able to be activated.

Call Sirius. They can resend a signal to your unit which will hopefully do the trick.

This is a new car so take it to the dealer and let them solve it. Anyway, it was supposed to be activated as part of the delivery so you wouldn't have deal with it.
