NAV "Unlock" ??
I have an 07 W211 with DVD Nav. This eBay auction claims to have "unlock codes" to get into the system to allow DVD movie playback on the screen?!?
Anyone seen this before?
It is worth the $12?

You will have to have a "Euro" head unit for this to work. The USA head units have CD-ROM drives while the Euro ones have DVD drives, if I'm not mistaken. Unless something has changed for the 07's that I don't know about.

). The rep in Stuttgart said all the drives are DVD. The 07 model NAV system is a DVD based Nav system. I am really curious to see what comes of this

1. Did you recieve last years command book with the old style steering wheel? I did.
2. Is the comand unit different than the 06 model and the changer? As posted above the rep at the factory told me every drive in the car is dvd player. Can someone verify this?
3. Is there an 07 command booklet that references the new steering wheel?

Don't waste your money, here's the trick how to get into engineering mode
Press and hold [mute] + [end] + [serv] for about 8 seconds, or until the "Engineering Menu" appears.
Once there press and hold [#],[*], [left arrow] (in that order), until you see three italicised options on the right side of the COMAND.
I believe the first option controls DVD in Motion, the second, the region code, and the third, uh, I forget what the third does.

MotorWerkz, aren't you in Indosesia? If you screw up the US COMAND, MBUSA has several bulletins that the damages are not covered by warranty.
Good luck messing with this but your US COMAND will not play DVD movies . . .if that's what you want, you need a European head unit.

x-tian-230k is right, and as for jmorgis, you're right too. You see, the 2003 W211's with NAV are actually 2004 replacement cars badged as 2003's. These special replacement cars did have a DVD drive for the center slot in COMAND. Those lucky few who have the replacement cars can play DVD's. If you don't have one of these cars, you will need to purchase a Euro COMAND. No if's, and's or but's about it.
Luckily, these units can be had for about 700.00 on ebay.
