I have an 07 W211 with DVD Nav. This eBay auction claims to have "unlock codes" to get into the system to allow DVD movie playback on the screen?!?

Anyone seen this before?

You will have to have a "Euro" head unit for this to work. The USA head units have CD-ROM drives while the Euro ones have DVD drives, if I'm not mistaken. Unless something has changed for the 07's that I don't know about.

Dip o Rama is correct. You can change the setting on the uS ones, but it still won't read DVDs.

Not to confuse the issue, but my US COMAND does read DVD's (cant get it to play movies) but it does play MP3's on DVD. So at least some US units has DVD readers

I'm assuming that that the single-slot player on the head unit is DVD but I'll verify.

Mine does play MP3's.

Although I have not recieved my car yet, I picked it up from the factory in Stuttgart(it is currently in Jax awaiting custums, should have it in the next week or so ). The rep in Stuttgart said all the drives are DVD. The 07 model NAV system is a DVD based Nav system. I am really curious to see what comes of this

Bunch of qeustions for those with the 07's.

1. Did you recieve last years command book with the old style steering wheel? I did.

2. Is the comand unit different than the 06 model and the changer? As posted above the rep at the factory told me every drive in the car is dvd player. Can someone verify this?
3. Is there an 07 command booklet that references the new steering wheel?

So sorry, but your DVD Nav (as they said) is in the trunk; COMAND single slot will not play movies.

Don't waste your money, here's the trick how to get into engineering mode

The first option controls DVD in motion, uncheck all option

the Second option controls region code, check region free

The single slot on the COMAND unit is a DVD drive, but the CD Changer won't play DVD.

MotorWerkz, aren't you in Indosesia? If you screw up the US COMAND, MBUSA has several bulletins that the damages are not covered by warranty.

Good luck messing with this but your US COMAND will not play DVD movies . . .if that's what you want, you need a European head unit.

US commands DO NOT PLAY DVD's..... ! If you want DVD play back purchase a Euro Command. It looks exactly the same but it has the video button instead of the SAT button....

x-tian-230k is right, and as for jmorgis, you're right too. You see, the 2003 W211's with NAV are actually 2004 replacement cars badged as 2003's. These special replacement cars did have a DVD drive for the center slot in COMAND. Those lucky few who have the replacement cars can play DVD's. If you don't have one of these cars, you will need to purchase a Euro COMAND. No if's, and's or but's about it.

Luckily, these units can be had for about 700.00 on ebay.

The '05 E55s also had a DVD drive in the single slot, but they never had the ability to view DVDS.

If I have to lose my Sirius sat radio then it's definately not worth it.
