E240 1999 Heated seats switch problem?

The driver side switch of the heated seat is not that very crisp. Whereas the passenger side heated seat switch runs very smoothly in all the positions. The question is i want to remove the driver side switch and reinstall it after spraying it with WD 40. What is the exact method of removing the switch? Is there any DIY? I don’t want to damage the dash wood as the car is in great shape.

Any help with pics will be highly appreciated

Usually, bad switches are not operating smoothly due to something broken inside the switch at a pivot point. After you go thru the work of removing the dash parts, and putting it back together you should just pop in a new switch & be done with it forever. (If the switches are individually replaceable, if not, I understand the desire for a simple fix.)

Also remember, WD40 is flamable.

You've posted this on the W211 forum, for E-class cars '03 and newer. You'd probably get a better/quicker answer if you'd repost on the W210 forum, which is what your 1999 E is.

Regards.

W210 heated seat switches are a single unit, i.e. left and right are combined with the control unit and sold all as one part number.

Thanks for your input guys. I saw one heated switch in the junk yard today. It is one single unit. Will replace it soon.
