I have purchased an E320 with 50K on it.
In the morning the steering has friction at a specific angle.
Later in the day, I don't feel that friction, even if the car has not been used for 2-3 hr.

What can be the problem??
I do have extended warrenty and will be taking the car to the dealer, but wanted to have some knowledge before I go there.

The friction is because of something else.
Would like to hear from experienced MB owners -- How nasty can this be??

You may have a problem with lubrication having leaked out of the tie rods/ball joints/one of those steering things. I had that years ago. For some reason this initially shows up in the morning. Eventually it gets worse and makes unpleasant metallic grinding noises.
There have been past threads on this.
Best of luck, hope you get this resolved.
