The cold weather's effect on suspension - My First Post!

Hey all, long time lurker now a member.

Here's my problem:

I've noticed that when I start the car and drive in cold weather, the suspension makes a groaning noise as I go over bumps in the road. It continues for about 15 minutes. Not only does the car groan, it squeeks and generally feels like something is not right. I've had it checked, and the SM says there's nothing wrong with it.

My question is this: Is it normal?

I live in Houston, and rarely does it get this cold, so I've never experienced a problem. Should I take the car in?

Most cars make some type of suspension or tire noise when they're cold. Here in Chicago as of late (like between 5-15F) my CLK's tires and body protest the cold for a few minutes and then everything quiets down.

I've got an 03 E500, it never makes groaning noises,
I live in Chicago(actual Chicago, not Chicagoland Suburbs), and it's lightly snowing.
You should hear noises similar to a rub/groan if you dont have a 4matic(maybe with 4matic also) and you're turning your tires left and right on ice(happens when i park in the garage)

Tires !

A cold week here on Long Island and car wasn't driven for about 10 days ( parked in the garage).
Yesrterday, after driving about a mile, got on a parkway and as I approached 50mph starting getting
vibrations all around, like tires out of balance.
Slowed down to about 40 and was quite, so after another few miles starting getting back up to speed and then all was OK.
Must have been flat spots on the tires after sitting.

The shocks do freeze in cold weather giving you not only a groaning noise but also a very rough ride. If you bounce the suspension a few times they usually free up.
