Video screens / iPod installed today in my 2004 E320 Wagon (with pics)

As you guys might know, I just got this wagon. Took it in today to get my iPod and a video system installed. This is how we did it.

Installed iPod Video Dock connector in center console--charges the iPod and grabs the audio/video feed simultaneously. Tapped into the aux input of the Command radio for audio output of iPod. Split the video--one for the command screen (will install later) and one for the LCD screens. Ran all cables under panels and the carpet for a stealth install. for the Rear cargo monitor, we ran the cable through one of the boots covering the hinge and out of the inside hatch release.

The LCD screen system came with two parts: One LCD screen is the master, having a built in DVD player. The second is the slave, and runs off one cable which supplies both power and A/V. Both screens have independant A/V inputs for playstation, etc. 4 total headphone outputs. Both screens have their own speakers too, in case we want to hear music up front and the kids want to hear their movies in the rear.

Now for the best part; the cost:

Dual screen portable DVD/LCD system: $169.
Misc wiring/connectors: $75
Labor: $350.

Total: $594.

The screens are easily removable for security, and the rear one is protected from view if we pull the rear cover.

This is the Dock cable for power and A/V:

Here it is with the iPod in place: notice how much room there is:

Enough cable to move it around:

very sweet with the monitors. aren't you afraid of the shock threshold on the monitor mounted on the rear hatch? the hatch closes pretty hard (at least on mine, it is more of a slam when use the button to close)??

Not really; it's only a monitor--there's really nothing to break...besides it only cost $169 for both!

What's the point on having a monitor on the rear hatch?

I have three children: one sits up front and two sit back there.
