2009 Mercedes E-Class preview

Here's a preview on the 2009 Mercedes E-Class, featuring lots of info, on features, history and competition it will face, and many other details. Also available is a photo gallery with the sedan.

"Mercedes is going to unveil a completely new E-Class in 2009 code-named W212. The design will be inspired from the new C-Class, S-Class and a few cues from the CLS-Class. It will come as a main competitor for BMW 5-Series and the Audi A6. The car will be unveiled at 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show."

The new look is getting closer and closer to the "universal" generic look. I like the current look because it is unique. The new look is more like Lexus-type and other Japanese cars. My 0.02.

The title should say "A Concept drawing by an artist in Top Speed". That is no way a preview as the final car are not even finished.

Right, Storm. One should not take this artist's view too seriously. And because the picture does look like a Japanese car, I doubt it is accurate. MB knows their brand and I have every confidence they will come out with a gorgeous new W212 that has the best of the new C and S classes. I think the character will remain sedan. Add too much CLS cues and they'll hurt CLS sales.

Like I have said in the past taking away the circular headlights on the E class would be a big mistake. To me its a big deal and thats what gives the front end of the E class its main character along with being a notable item that people remember.

I agree. It looks too Japanese. Without the star, it could be mistaken for the new Lexus GS. Funny how Lexus tries so hard to have the euro look and now the Europeans look like Japanese. Tokyo must be laughing ...

How can that be taken seriously. It's really more of a cartoon then a proper illustration.
