W211 vs W210 Cabin Space

Hey all, am new to this forum !!

thing is, we recently took a couple of test drives in the new W211, and loved the car. Driving a W210 now.

Only thing is, I found that the cabin space has shrunked!!!Or issit just my imagination??

I'm 6 feet 2, with a girth of 48 inches...
so space is pretty important (both leg room and seat room).. esp those long drives with a passenger of 4.

anyone can confirm that this is true?
sigh.

I had the same impression when I considered trading my W210 for a W211. I did it and have had the W211 since 05. Appearances are misleading and I find the W211 more comfortable than the W210. There is at least as much and maybe more room in the W211. Do it, but first drive one to insure you are comfortable. the W211 handles better, rides better and is ergonomically more pleasing than the W210, both are very nice cars but hands down I prefer the W211.

BMW FTW
w210
Front leg room 41.3 inches
Front head room 37.6
Rear head room 37.2
Rear leg room 36.1

Wheelbase 111.5

W211

Front leg room 41.9
Front head room 39.1
Rear head room-- 37.9

Front legroom the W211 has a slight advantage, Rear leg room goes to the w210. Head room goes to the w211.

From what I recall....the W211s lost rear passenger leg room (an inch or two) but gained more trunk space. My uncle drives a W210 and was shocked to see how much bigger my trunk space is.

The wagon's rear hatch space for the two rear seats shrunk a bit...since there's a spare there...

my coworker has an '01 w210 and he thought his e430 has more elbow room as compared to my '04 w211.

I also had the same impression. I put it down to the centre console of a W210 is flat where as the W211 centre is curved.

It gives the feeling of being a bit closed in.
