Always Night

My car '03 E500 has gone into permanent "night" mode. The auto lights are always on, the dash is in "night mode".

It has been very cold but the sensor (at least what I think is the light sensor) in between the two winshield sprayers is clean.

Can anyone confirm this is the sensor and if the temp might be affecting this? I was hoping to not have to take it in.

Believe the sensor is on the windshield behind the rear view mirror. Sounds like it could have failed.

This is correct.. The sensor is the array of lights that are on the windshield. There is a light module behind there and is accessible from the panel that surrounds the rear view mirror. Normally the harness goes bad.Not very expensive. I had the same issue on my 04 but it was a warranty repair the first time. the second time the harness was damaged by the people who replaced my windshield.

Actually I got that confused with the rain sensors But for some reason when my car was fixed for the "night mode" issue this was sighted as the cause. I think the light sensor is built in there somehow..

I've been told that that's where the daylight sensor is too. The little black dome by the windshield I have been told is for the "load" on the Climate Control.

Thanks

So I was on point with my earlier post..

There is a small harness that connected to this unit that goes bad. I had mine replaced and it corrected the Light/Dark issue..
