Few quality issues...

New (500 km) E320. Few issues:

- Wiper blades are very noisy. Scratch, scratch. Dealer says "yeah, MB put on hard blades."

- Wipers do not stop when car stationary when on automatic. They should. The C320 did this fine.

- Wipers often get stuck in "on" and I have to manually stop and restart gto go back to interval. Again, the C320 was MUCH better.

- car radio hung up once (just displaying the MB logo). A car reset was necessary.

- Day/Night mode regularly misdetects (so the display dims when it is daytime etc).

- Tele-Aid comes up with "Tele-Aid Malfunction, visit workshop" when you start the car in an enclosed garage. How dumb is that??

Seems the software systems were too modern - definitely based on this, the C320 was superior. I guess htat is why we do not run German software on our PCs either.

Does anyone have similar experiences?

Minor...

...and I love the car, but as you say, they are problems, and annoying. Especially that wiper - it should be unnoticaeble, instead of requiring my intervention - and the C did it fine, so it IS possible!

I disagree that these are minor problems. They require a visit to the delaership and can consume a great deal of time to rectify in terms of going out of your way to drop off the car and pick it up, the time and inconvenience and that you may or may not be given a loaner. These nit picking problems made my ownership of my current ML very unsatisfactory and is the reason I am waiting for several more months to see how the initial quality turns out to be. For 60K I'm not going to put up with a lot of "oh it just needs a software upgrade" or blew a fuse or whatever. I would assume that most of us here on the board consider our time to be valuable and don't want to be sitting in the service drive when we could be on a golf course or making some money.

You are absolutely correct about the wiper blades! They will drive you crazy! My dealer replaced them once, and they are still very noisy. The automatic operation of the blades has a mind of its own, and you are 100% on the money about their operation.
The Tele Aid malfunction message is annoying. I took my car to the dealer, showed him the message, and on the service ticket, they wrote, could not find anything wrong with the Tele Aid!!??
On top of these "minor" problems, My E500 drifts tho the right and vibrates at 60mph. The dealer already replaced all four tires, and that problem is still not cured. I think the electronic suspension on the E500 has something to do with that. I won't even get into the operation of the V60 phone.
For $60,000, these minor problems are a royal pain in the neck! One should not have to experience such problems with a Benz.

I miss the 01 Audi A8L I traded on this E500. Do not get me wrong, I love the E500, the style and the smooth power etc, but these problems are beginning to get on my nerves. Thanks for listening.

the problems described are definitely not acceptable.. infact they are pain in the asses....

as for drifting to the right.. my C had th eproblem and it took 4 visits and a threat to sue for them to fix the problem properly... the fix was to replace teh camber bolts... or atleast this is what they told me...the funny thing is that they had already done that in the previous visit.... whatever.. theproblem was fixed and I could sell it just fine....

Oh man, you got a new E320? Did you buy again from Meray? And how's your C320? Mine has 43,000km.

Though I didn't buy from Meray, everyone in the parts and service knows me by first name coz I brought the car so many times for service and twice for minor body shop works.

Now that MB Mississauga is open I will try their service.

Yes, I couldn't resist!

Yes - I could not resist! There was a cancellation and I happened to call the guy at Meray that day - a few days later I was driving a new E320....!

Traded up...

I traded up: got 75% back for the C after two years, which I thought was pretty good.
