Comand system shut down, please help
its happened before, i bring the car to dearler, and they did upgrade the solfware, and now its happen again, i will try to bring the car back to them, my question is: what happen to the comand system?

Is it completely dead? Mine has died 3 or 4 times and I pop out one of the fuses in the trunk to reset. I think it's number 6 for the gateway. It's one of the two big amp guys.

Mine has gone stupid a couple of times and taking out the #6 fuse on the trunk for a few minutes fixes it. Unknown cause but it rarely happens and the fuse thing fixes it so why mess with it, and I just went out of warranty anyways.

my comand have same problem with all your guys here, its not completly dead, its off and on sometime by itself and work again in next morning, i will bring my car to dearler again this week, dunno what they gonna do with it, hopefully they have beter trick, this is second time i bringing it back to them, anyway, my car still under warrantee, let see what they can do, i will tell your guys exactly what happen if they can find it.

It happened to me before. (during the winter)
It seems happened when I was doing hard acceleration.
I then turn it back on while I am on crusing speed.
Now it doesn't happen to me anymore..... so I didn't bother to have it check.

Question, Does it completely go out or do you see a warning symbol on the screen? If so, this has happened to me even the map and service button on the command buttons were no longer functioning.
By typing in 5-3-7 while holding them in this sequence. Wait about 10 seconds then though u can't see it, press the center ok button on the scroll keys. Shut off your vehicle and wait about a minute or so, I know people will say, oh well that just allows you to change your start up logo / symbol, but it worked in re-enableing my command.
DONT BE AFRAID to try the sequence over again a few times, sometimes the sequence and doe's not register and the menu doe's not come up, and just pressing ok won't help much.
And yes your command is out, but the menu is still registering.

This problem just happended to my 2004 E500 last week. The command center won't power up at all. As mentioned in this thread, I plugged fuse #6out and in to reset. The command center powered up after that, but still won't power up every once a while. I took it in to the dealer. After 1 day of investigation, they said they'll need to special order the module for the command center. Don't know which module they're talking about. I'll find out next week. After owing this CPO for a little more than 2 months, I've been to the dealer 3 times already for repair issues.

My Nav hung up a few weeks ago as well. All was well and than it hung up on one screen . (2005 E500)
The dealer invoiced a new MOST cable. That fixed the NAV, now my ESP button light doesn't work my SRS warning screen shows up and my NAV actual position is 100' behind the actual position.
I love the car but sometimes I think I have a F.O.R.D., Fix Or Repair Daily. The electronics just seem to be too sensitve and interdependant.

See AF82.85-P-6000P about Comand issues and a SW update. AF82.85-P_6060A about the audio gateway, reflash or replace depending on the unit. A few later updates too (probably replacing some of the older updates).
There are a few issues to be looked after but at this time the dealer service guys should be perfectly aware of what needs to be done. They should not do it one by one, unfortunately not all have had the time to find out what the complete service work includes.
