widest tire that fit on stock rims?

widest tire that fit on stock rims?
I have an e320 sport the stock tires are 245 45 17 all around, can i put anything wider in the back? Thanks

Its big and Grey!
I wouldnt go more than 255's or 245's in goodyear GSD3's as they run wide.

did anyone ever put a wider tire on the stock 17" rims? if so what size? I would prefer a wider tire if possible-

Putting wider tires on rims that are not deisned for them will make your handling worse, not better (since the tire will bow and the contact patch will be smaller, similar to overinflation).

If you want a different tire size, buy rims to accomodate.
