E500 pains

1100 miles on the Odo. SRS and TeleAid malfunction messages lit up while driving on the freeway (both at the same time). I had the car in the shop earlier for the TeleAid malfunction, and the dealer could find nothing wrong with the system.
Rain sensing wipers have a mind of their own. Actually, they could be dangerous while driving at highway speed. They go to the intermitent mode say at 70 mph with heavy rain when they should be in the constant mode. Ironicaly, when you are stopped at a traffic light, they go into constant mode. Definitely something wrong here.
Wiper blades must have been designed by a deaf engineer! They are very noisy.
Car still drifts to the right after all four tires were changed.

Dealer is trying to talk me into trading for a new 02 S500. I am getting frustrated with the E500 and all these mickey mouse problems. I love the car and I hope MB takes care of these issues quickly, and no new issues come up. Will keep you posted.

Sorry to hear you are having these problems. Did the dealer replace the Continental tires from the factory with the same brand? Continental tires are inferior. You should request Michelins which MB puts on most of its upscale cars.

I am going to be ordering an E500 but I want to make arrangements with the dealer to swap out the tires.

My choice for replacement would be:

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

Size: 245/45ZR17 - 95Y

There have been a few posts on the board of owners that have had the Continental Tires changed, has anyone had these Michelins installed.

Please let me know.

hey i have the same problem with yours. The SRS and SOS light up at the same time when i drove it at freeway last week. I only had about 300 miles on it. The dealer reboot the computer for me yesterday, and it seems fine now. He said if the SOS and SRS light up again, they have to change the "computer connector." Never had a chance to test the wiper and rain sensing. Never have rain here in LA.

I'm in the wheel/tires business and If I were you I will buy
Bridgestone S03.

Those are the ones that are going in my car.
In my case:

245/35/19
285/30/19

Every other Porshe Customer that has brought his car to my store has been switched to S03 and so far from them, only
compliments.

Hey MitchE500,

Please let us know if dealer can specify/swap tires for you when you make a order.

It's always a good idea to avoid a problem if you can.

I agree with Enrique, I would consider Bridgestone S03s, I had Michelin on my bimmer and now have S03s. I much happier with the S03s.

Bridgestone s03 vs Michelin Pilot A/S

The s03's are excellent tires, but if you have exposure to snow like MitchE500 and you don't want to change out tires each winter, then the Michelin a/s are the way to go. IMHO the s03's are overkill for the level of performance of the E500.

The reason I was looking at the Michelins is because of the wet weather we get and also some snow in the winter.

Althou I don't see myself plowing around in my E500 if there is a lot of snow.

That's what my wife's Jeep is for!
