03 w211 command and navigation
I have an 03 e320 and im looking to get the bigger screen, I may choose to get navigation a little later...I was looking on ebay and I came across a few headunits w/ the "big screen" (pardon my ignorance) My question is, Is the headunit with the "big screen" plug and play, and does it also have and aux output? And also what is needed for navigation

Head units are plug and play. The Euro COMAND head units do have an aux output as well as a DVD player. If you decide to buy a Euro COMAND, make sure the person that is selling it to you changes the DVD region settings and unlocks the 'play in motion' function. The secret engineering mode that can changed these settings has been changed in newer COMAND's. For the navigation, some '03s are prewired for navigation in the trunk. The wires are tied behind the fuse box. If you have the wires, all you need is the console, mounting bracket, trunk panel and DVD. This is a general overview of what you need to upgrade your car. Hope this helps.

What if the seller doesn't know how to change the region settings and unlock the "play in motion", what would you tell him ? or how can it be done ?

No one knows the 'engineering' menu access code for an '05 or later model euro COMAND. Mine is still set on Europe/Asia region DVD's and my DVD player is still not able to play in motion. There are many different codes that many people have tried and no luck. The Euro COMAND is still a better buy than US COMAND even if it doesn't play in motion (it's distracting anyway)...unless you subscribe to satellite radio.

I did a search and found a .pdf that shows you how to do it for an 03-04 command unit (I think).
One more question, after installing the unit, won't you need a radio code to go with it ? I mean, isn't taking out your old unit and replacing it like disconnecting the battery?

When I installed mine, it was plug and play. Everything worked fine for me. It even had the right time and date when I first turned mine on.
