Navigation Setup on Head Unit?

So I bought a navigation module on Ebay. I plugged in the wires in the trunk and turned on the car, put in the DVD (North America of course). I do get a menu when I press the NAV button, but I go through all the menu function and they are empty except for the previous destinations, which are all German cities. I went to the Navigation Setup Menu (the NAV+5 menu) and I really don't want to mess with any of the setting unless I know what I am doing.

Is this problem I can do myself by messing with the head unit settings or is this a problem only the dealership can fix?

Please let me know. Any help is appreciated!

try to a be a bit more specific/clear if possible...
Anyhow, from what I think I understood -

Have you re-wired the MOST Loop?(which is the process of removing your door sill in order to alter cable connections) This process is semi-difficult.

If so, you need the GPS to be attached to the navi drive in order for it to figure out where you are.
The antenna bracket is on the left panel in the trunk, north of the fusebox where you connected the navi drive wires. You need to remove the lower black GPS cable on the bracket and replace it with the black GPS antenna cable from the bunch of wires that you used to connect the nav drive.

I am probably not that far into installing the drive. I just plugged in the drive with the existing wires in the back and a menu popped up on the NAV Screen when I turned on the car, so I thought it worked.

I have not rewired the MOST loop. I turned on my car again later that day and 'Navigation not available' displayed on the NAV Screen. I got the nav console on ebay and bought the brackets online. From looking at previous threads, I need wire for the MOST loop and a GPS splitter? What are the parts number for those 2 wires if I need them.

For the GPS cable, I have a blue connector that fit right in and another circular black connector taped to it which could fit in the blue connection of the drive. So I do not use the blue connector that was tied with the other wires into the drive? Is the black GPS cable you are speaking of separate from the bunch of wires next to the fuse box?

I will probably need your help in re-wiring the MOST loop (removing the door sill). I do have a mechanic friend that can help me, but we will probably need instructions.

Thanks for your help.

I'd be glad to help ya out.
Do NOT follow steph280s guide - his is far different than ours. I've yet to install the navi bracket, i'm pretty sure steph280s bracket install guide is the same as ours.
You don't need the MOST wire he suggests to buy - the GPS splitter i believe is part #: 6-7-82-3111.(Might as well order me one while you're at it; i've yet to buy one ) I highly recommend OEMpartsdirect.com for your purchases, when you call Jamie you may get his answering machine, but he returns calls and is helpful.

Also the new trunk paneling goes for about 300, apparently you'd save a good chunk of change by just using scissors or something to cut a hole in your existing trunk panel.

For the re-wiring:
You'll need a Torx40 bit to remove luggage hooks

I've got photos of many of the install procedure steps - just not on this comp. Hopefully i'll have time later today to post them up, I'll likely be a bit busy till the end of the work week though

Thanks so much for your help!

OEMpartsdirect.com is where I ordered the bracket from, which came in today. Just to double check this is what I ordered from Jamie, now this based off of other threads I looked at:
A 211 545 79 40 Bracket
A 211 545 63 40 Supporting Plate
N910143 006001 Screw (I only ordered 1 screw)
N910112 006003 Nut (I only order 1)
If there is anything else I need to buy let me know and I'll probably order it with the GPS splitter.

Let me know about installation steps when you have the time. I'll will be out on business from Thursday to Monday so no rush.

Hi smb7420,
It's been a while since my last post, but I finally received the GPS splitter today. When you have the chance, please provide install pictures if steph280's install instructions are different.

Thanks,
hnieto1

Hi smb7420,
I put in the GPS splitter and installed the brackets. I read your thread on rewiring the MOST loop in door sill. Do you have pictures for that. After that's finished, hopefully my nav will work.
