NAVI Update Disk?

Hello,

I am new to the forum -- great resource! Glad I found it.

I have a 2005 E320CDI. I noticed that some of the house numbers, etc. are not in my Nav system. The dealer wants more than $300+ to buy an upgrade CD. Not including any install.

Question - Does anyone have a new one (he told me that they're on 2006.2 version) on CD for sale. If so, please get in contact with me regarding the price, etc.

Also, is it hard to do the update?

Thanks and looking forward to hearing from this knowledgable group.

I think the dealer is taking you for a ride. My understanding is that update disks come out every two years (2004, 2006, 2008, roughly) and cost about $125.

They come out sometimes twice in a year, but unless you live in an area that is simply exploding with growth, or there is major interstate construction, the differences between disks is minimal to hardly noticeable. When you enter an address, you can't enter an exact address, but you can enter within a range of addresses which is close enough for you to find your destination visually when you get there.

When you insert a new disk into the NAV drive in the trunk, you may get a hidden software update on the disk which may not sit well with your COMAND hardware. It is easilly fixable if this happens, by the dealer who will re-flash your car's audio system with revised software. (But who needs the aggravation, & a day at the Dealership?)

Save your money unless you simply find that the info on your disk is hopelessly out of date for you. You can pop out the disk & see its date. It will look like "2004.2" or something like that.

Also, modify your Profile so it displays where you reside. It will help people know if you are not driving a US model. There are people here from all over the world, & the cars are similar, but different.

Welcome. This IS the best MB Forum out there & there are some nice guys here.
