Wheels/Tires

I'm considering downgrading to 17" wheels/tires but, can't get a definitive answer from the dealer.
Not sure exactly what will work instead of the standard 18" twin 10 spoke without altering handling and dynamics.
I kinda like the 5 spoke that come standard on the E500.
I'd really appreciate any thoughts or suggestions from the members here

KB,

Presumably, you're referring to the E500 5 spoke sport wheels?
BTW, really like yours too! Are they from a CLS500? Did you need to use spacers? I guess they aren't available in 17"?

KB,

Did you just slap these on with no issues? Wonder if that will work with my sport pkg, there seems to be a different offset(my 18" twin 10 spoke vs the CLS500 5 spoke) despite all else being the same

I'm curious why you would want to downsize your wheels to 17".
In any event, the Almach 5-twin spoke is a great looking 17" wheel (see Starbrite's photo); these are OEM accessory wheels. IMO, they are one of the best looking wheels currently offered by MB in North America for the E Class.
Best to double check the offset compared to the original sport package 18" 10-twin spoke before you do the exchange. As for tires, I would highly recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S if you are NOT planning on purchasing a separate set of snows. Check out www.tirerack.com for ratings and prices; the 245/45ZR17 Michelins currently sell for $211 and the same size ContiExtreme Contacts sell for $105.

17" may be better with our roads BUT, also don't like the twin 10 spoke.

I stand corrected, the '07 E350 is a 7, not a 5 spoke wheel (same design though).
Mine are the Almach 17", which were standard on the '04 E500 and the '06 E350*.

Edit:*And, as KB mentions below, I bought them from him

I have the same wheels as starbrite's 17" if you are interested in a swap or a straight purchase. The tires are Continentals and fairly new, stock size I think 245s and 17"

That is if this is a style you prefer. I would not mind a second set to have lying around.

And, IMO, a big improvement in appearance over the fat, 5 spoke wheels that came with the appearance package.

Terps are out....

I beg to differ, had the twin spokes and found they are a PITA to keep clean, Fat 5's are much easier and appearance wise fit the car. IMO

Yes, I agree. Less spokes the better to keep clean. I'm trying to find the CLS500 5 spoke now, non-staggered, like kosherbenz has. Most I've run across so far are the staggered set. If I can't find them at a reasonable price I'll likely go 17's.

Well, to each his own Glock. That's why I said "IMO" too.
Honestly the 5's look better on you car than they did on my darker, Tectite gray.

Additionally, the 5 spoke wheels were too similiar to my wifes Lexus RX330.
The twins make a nice contrast between the 2 cars. Plus I still have the original set and can
swap between them at some time in the future, when I go through these tires.

I can relate to the matching of cars Starbrite, my wife's infiniti has 6 spoke and it drives me nuts sometimes looking out in the garage. Like yourself, I have two sets, twins for the winter and the fat 5 for summer driving. Breaks it up a bit .
