E350 Oil Filter O-Rings
Hi everyone, this is my first post… I found this forum recently and I must say this is an awesome place for people like me, who like to maintain their own cars.
I have a 2006 E350 and I do have a question about oil change. Last time when I changed engine oil and filter at 13K miles, the Fleece oil filter kit (purchased from the dealer) came with 5 O-rings. I could only find 3 O-rings after I removed the oil filter housing; a large one for the cap of the housing and 2 medium ones near the tip. Does anyone know what the 2 remaining O-rings (the smaller ones) are for? Thanks in advance.

The same oil filter is used on multiple engines....
The extra O-rings are for a different oil filter assembly used on the V-8 engines (and probably other 6's and 4's too).
