that little tray by the glove....

So I used that lil tray by the glove compartment to keep some spare change and a few bucks handy just in case. I was recently in a car accident and ever since I got my car back from the shop, the tray has been stuck. Right now, it sticks out about 1/8 an inch, and when I press it in, it just comes back right to where it is now.

Anyone know the full mechanics of this lil tray, or how I can get to back of it to see where its stuck? Thanks.

Why not take it back to the shop to have them replace it? It should be covered under your insurance policy.

Mine was stuck when I bought it (used) . I took it to the dealer along with another warranty item. They did not want to mess with it but when I got it back it was repaired. I tried prying on it with a plastic knife( their suggestion) but I could not get it open. Anyway, they told me the glove compartment had to be removed to replace it. If it had anything of value in it, I guess they got it for their trouble. It has become apparent to me that this thing must be used with care. It does not sound like you have fouled it with coins but I could see glasses or cell phones causing problems. Sorry I could not be more help.

I have seen coins pile up and overflow out the back of the compartment jamming it mechanically. It's a PITA to remove... so unless you can play with it and get it working, I would leave it up to someone else.

right, possibly a coin fell in the back and standing up right causing the 1/8" gap.

Thanks. That was exactly my thoughts, like a coin or 2 has piled up in the back, preventing the tray from "unlocking" when pushing it back to open it. I've tried yanking and even using a flathead screwdrive to get leverage and pry it open. Removing the glove dept?!!

Maybe now I'll have something to do this weekend, thanks again to all.
