Strange Seat / Head rest movement??

I noticed that when you adjust the driver and passenger seat forward and backward the head rest moves up and down.

=>Seat all the way back -- head rest all the way up.
=>Seat all the way forward -- head rest all the way up.

Is this intended or unintended??

I don't take delivery on the E500 until later this month so I can't answer as to the new E. My other MBs do that (presumably the farther back the seat, the taller the driver). I find that if I am using the seat adjustment to put the seat farther back and I don't want the headrest to rise, I just hold the headrest button down as I move the forward/aft button back.

On another note, in the drives I had at E-Motion, I found the headrest very comfortable. Unlike the past models such as my current CLK (where the top of the headrest tilts forward and backward), the bottom of the headrest on the E pivots out and with a lower headrest position than would be the case on my CLK, provides a very comfortable combination with the seat.

My C32 certainly does the headrest thing, also. Not sure why - maybe most people put the headrest too low, so MB always raises it? Strange.

Intended afaik.

My C did it too.

More annoying, the headrest is angled and hence pushes forward my wife's head: I guess her head is not hunched on her shoulders like the rest of our heads!

Any idea if I can handle that somehow? She is always uncomfortable in this new E, so it's worth solving if I am ever to be allowed to buy another one!

I had a '90 190e, 98 c280 and an '95 SL ... it didn'a happen in any of those cars.

If this was an 'intended' feature, it would be nice to see it in the manual! .... I wouldn't even need an explanation as to 'why' it happens just 'that' it happens!

Thanks for the input.
