flaps over stock grill air intake

on my 2007 e350 sport-under the hood there are two intakes on either side that
are partially blocked off. if i cut the plastic it will let
more air in. obviously better. has anyone done this
and are there any long term issues? warranty problems? etc

Leave them blocked.... You wont gain anything and could end up messing up something..

You might gain some power, but its not worth the risk of possible engine damage if something gets into the intake system...

Removal might allow too much water to make its way into the air intake system and cause what's called hydraulicing the engine. Not a good thing! I also think you would jeopardize your warranty if MB noted this when working on your car.
