That can't be the top speed of the car. I thought the limiter was at 250 km/h, meaning it can go faster.

E 220 CDi = vmax 220km/h - Diesel - 8.6l/100km - Ha Ha!

That was in Germany. In the US I would never go that fast unless on a track, but so far I have had no chance to take out the E 500 on Willow Springs...

I doubt you can hit top speed at Willow the straight is not long enough.

There's a difference between physical top speed, and electronically controlled top speed. I think we seem to forget about this very often when we discuss "top speeds".

What you be your definition of the two?
The way i see it ,my car's "physical top speed" is " electronically controlled"
The reason i started the thread is just to see who got what out of their cars.
BTW ,whats the "physical top speed" of yours?

Just because the car is limited at 130 mph (or whatever it is) doesn't mean it can't go faster than that delimited. The S65 for example, is electronically limited, but delimited, it can go upwards of 200 mph.

"Physical top speed" may have been the wrong term to use.

I once did the math using the speeds-in-gears from a Road & Track test of an ;03 E500. With its 5-speed transmission and the OEM tires, it would have a theoretical (unlimited) speed at redline of about 150 MPH in 4th and about 180 MPH in 5th. It would never reach 180 MPH in 5th, because of air drag, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it did 150 in 4th. The fastest I've ever actually driven it was about 115, somewhat unintentionally, in the course of passing a string of trucks. The ease with which it reached 115 tells me that it would have a lot left beyond the 130 MPH limiter.
