Airmatic question...
guys, i have a question to airmatic suspention car owners. does the suspenstion softens when u put the car into W (comfort)-mode? i know it makes shifting more agressive when u put into S (sport)-mode, but it also feels like it makes suspention harder?
thanks to all in advance.

Unless I mis-understood my manual, the S/W setting is for Winter and Summer (or something similar),and really refer to the transmission engagement feature? While the Airmatic susupension setting are depicted by the red lights: 2 for Sport, 1 for intermediate, and no lights for Comfort. Both the shifting and Ride become softer in the Comfort setting.

Out Of Control!!
in my 06 there is no W/S mode there is Comfort mode and Sport mode and this has to deal with transmission and shifting patterns... C starts the car off in 2nd gear so its a little softer on the launch... as well as shifts a little earlier in each gear... S is certainly more aggressive in all matters
Your suspension should have Comfort, Sport 1, Sport 2... This adjusts ride height and spring rates of the vehicle...

...
first, thanks guys for replies.
yeah...the suspention does get harder on sport 1 and sport 2 settings. however, i can swear that when i am in comfort setting and drive on W mode, (i have the car lowered and 19", so i can feel LA's roads imperfections very well) it feels noticibly softer than when i am C mode. I lost the manual for the car before i've got a chance to read it. But i have always believed that W/S or S/C settings had to do with how the transmission of the car behaves. Which makes more sense. Nevertheless, i am nearly willing to bet money that it makes my car feel softer when i go to W mode. I am crazy?

W---car starts out from 1st gear
S----car starts out from 2nd gear
The airmatic has been answered i think.

ok....i know that tranny behaves differently on W or S.
now, my question is whether suspension is the same or not when switching between W or S. nevermind the Sport 1, and Sport 2 settings, i am talking Comfort setting by default.

On a W211, the tranny settings are completely independent from the suspension settings (AFAIK, definitely on the pre-facelift car). I find this better than the W221 setup where those are combined (MB likely assumes W221 owners preferring more simple control options).
