sprint bluetooth question.
Pairing it with the old Sprint PPC-6700 was quick and in no time I was making and receiving calls. However, after about 20 mins. the BT pairing was gone and it was difficult to pair them again without having to reset either the PPC-6700, the MB BT Puck or both. It seems that the PPC-6700 was "locking" the BT Puck. This was not the case when I tried 2 other phones: the Sprint Katana and the Verizon Treo 700. These 2 phones worked flawlessly.
Four days later I decided to go to the Sprint store and check if they know something about this issue; as soon as I described it to the Customer Rep. she asked me: "Do you drive a Mercedes?," a little surprised I answered yes and she proceeds to describe an exactly similar situation with a different customer: That his PPC-6700 will stop working after about 20 mins. and that it will be difficult to pair them again, unless one or both are reset, and again, different phones worked fine. She suggested to take it to a repair center which I did.
At the repair center they provided me another phone, the PPC-6800, without any hesitation nor delay (I had the $4/month maintenance/insurance plan) and so far it has been working flawlessly for 3 days.
All phones I tried were able to download the phone book after a few minutes, but for some reason, the list is sometimes missing several phone numbers, after a few hours or days, suddenly it is complete (I have about 300 entries). Also, so far it has failed to download SMS messages.
SUMMARY:
The Sprint PPC-6800 is a great phone (check the specs) and so far is working great with the MB BT puck, but it does not download SMS messages. Other Sprint phones seem to work also: the one I tried was a Katana. The Verizon Treo 700 also works. All phones tested were able to download and display the phone list on the APS 50 Audio and the console.
