Are Leather Seats That Rare on the E?
#26
Im sure. The seats have to have holes for the fans to work. Didn't look to see where you are from. US & Canadian cars ARE equipped differently. Here, at least, the door panel above the armrests is a dead giveaway to the Leather/Vinyl question.

Explain your definition of "invoice" please. ED is 7% off MSRP and no shipping charge. You want more than that? Is that what you mean with your statement of ED invoice cost?
Anyway, doing ED now will most likely put you into a MY08 unless they have something sitting that you are willing to take now.

At invoice is a better deal than 7% off for ED. If the ED invoice cost to the dealer is less for ED, would it be reasonable to look for a price of invoice less 7% for ED? Otherwise, I see little advantage of doing an ED unless one wants a vacation.
Are you guys able to order an 08 now? My dealer said 30 days? I also said I wasn't willing to pay a premium. He said they try to hold prices for the first 30 days and then discount again.
Thoughts?

I ordered an '08 E350 yesterday. It's due to be built during the first decade of production (2nd week in June). I believe that I got a car that the dealer had ordered as a placeholder and I feel fortunate to get it.
I was offered the '08 for the same deal I always get from this dealer. Whatever the Invoice price is, that's what I pay. If there is some trunk money such as cash back to dealers then I get that off too.
Invoice prices on ED are lower than domestic delivery. You should easily get 10% off US delivery MSRP and the dealer will still make money.
Here's an example for the '08 BMW 535i (base prices).
- US delivery MSRP: $49,400
- Euro delivery MSRP: $45,940
- US delivery wholesale: $45,450
- Euro delivery wholesale: $42,405
You can see that on a Euro delivery, the dealer has at least $3,000 to play with. You should get some of that off the ED MSRP. That doesn't account for other ways for the dealer to make a profit such as Holdback and 1 to 2 % discounts for dealers with good customer feedback.

Well, when you buy @ invoice you still will pay for S&H, not charged on ED, and there can be certain other fees on the dealer invoice - marketing, advertising, that are not on ED. And I have as yet to see a post on here where someone doing ED gets it for an additional 7% off ED pricing. You might want to do some research on here to confirm this for yourself.
Remember that ED ordering is slightly different than normal because of the additional time required for all the paperwork. MBUSA has a decent writeup on it.

Try searching in the W211 forum under "European Delivery". For example:
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...opean+delivery
The dealer discounted further so my total discount off of US domestic delivery list was 11%.

It looks like our cars are going to have pretty close Vin numbers.

One more comment about leather seats
I tried to have a salesman "locate" a P2 with leather and was told "there aren't any". I was willing to pay the $1500 additional. Do you think he tried to get it?
Now you know why I bought elsewhere. Sheesh
All of my cars have leather, cleaning and maintenance is not an issue, yet.

More than likely he asked, or looked once. He didn't look for one like he wanted one for himself. Push harder elsewhere. Call MB of Ft lauderdale, they have a ton of new Es on the lot.
