For those of you who own HK system, how would you compare with Standard, Bose and Mark Levinson in terms of:

Clarity
Fidelity
Depth
Bass

IMO, Mark LEvinson is better in term of the clarity and depth. To be honest, I am not too sensitive with sound system. But that my opinion.

I don't have my new E with the HK yet but recall reading MULTIPLE posts about a month ago indicating the HK was the superior system. I will say that my old Lexus GS300 with the upgraded Nakamichi system was by far the best I'd heard at the time and the HK and ML both appear to be similar with powerful multichannel amplification and quality speakers.

I owned a 745i with the logic 7 system and have had several opportunities to listen to the lexus ml system. IMO the ML had a slight edge in clarity at the higher frequencies, but in every other area I felt that the logic 7 was far superior.

I had the bose in my ml320 and would have to describe it as disappointing.

Yea, MB installed the Bose as its premium option. It is the worst Bose system I have ever heard, although it probably not the speakers, but an extremely weak amplifier. I'd hate to hear the standard radio.

I agree completely. My ML320 w/premium Bose is just OK. In fact it is really a notch below OK. For good sound, I have to set the base down to -5 and the treble to about +3. A good system should sound good with the settings about flat. I too would hate to hear what the standard sound system is like in that car.

I had the upgraded Nakamichi in my Lexus and I had the opportunity to listen to the HK in the 500 I tested. I thought that the HK was superior in sound qlarity, bass and depth. It really does sound great. Now granted i spent a few minutes before the test ride adjusting it. The salesman looked at me like I was kind of strange, but quality sound and music is important to me.

get a full charge of your battery

I want to share my experience of improving the quality of sound.

Try charging your car battery fully -- it is free but it works.

Question, is the premium speaker system in an S-class the same as the one in the E? I didn't like the E premium but heard the S and it sounded awesome!

The MB site only shows 2002 info for the S class. In that model year the S has a Bose system.
