Please help!!

I have a 2007 E320 Bluetec and want to put on some new wheels. I was told that the 18" CLS wheels would work. These are the ones that I am looking at, will they be ok?

Thanks in advance!!

I have a 2006 E320 CDI with these wheels installed and they look and drive great. The offset is a little wide (the rear tires tend to stick outside the rear wheel wells except for the upper area) but it doesn't bother me. If you are worried about road debris chips, get a 3M Stoneguard installer to put spats at the bottom back of the wheel wells - they are invisible and do the trick. The issue of CLS wheels has been dealt with extensively in this forum by others, i.e. by KosherBenz, a frequent poster. Look in the Deisel forum - there are many photos submitted showing how they look and what the offset looks like after installation.

They are a great wheel install, presuming there are no changes in the 2007 Bluetech hubs and brakes.

Good Luck!

Go to the deisel forum and search "CLS Wheels" and you will find what you are looking for.

They will reduce the car's mileage though. I believe this is one reason MB does not offer any 18 inch package for the diesel passenger cars.

Skinny tires.
0W40 engine oils.
7-G transmission.

All aiming to pump up the mpg.

One more thing for mileage

The 2006 front rotars are smaller than those installed in the V-8s despite the heavier iron block engine in the diesel car. Weight reduction - higher mileage.

The larger brakes in the V8 cars is to reduce fade...they are able to reach higher speeds overall (think Autobahn), and lower speeds (100-130mph) more quickly, so brakes need to be bigger to dissipate heat during heavy use a diesel just won't see.

Stopping distances at US speeds are limited by tires. With the same tires, an E320 diesel will stop in the same distance as an E550, regardless of brake size.
