Key-Less Go Fob Key
Key-Less Go Fob Key
Does anyone know how much it would cost to replace these. Im about to purchase a 2004 E500 and the previous owner lost his keyless go keys, however he has a key that turns on the car but not with the keyless functions? Does anyone know how much it'll cost and I want at least 2 sets. Thanks
The seller must replace these for you or go to his dealer & make him deduct from the selling price what his dealership will charge you for them. Then you must test them. How do you even know the keyless function is even working properly? THEN what will you do. You will have NO recourse. The keys are much more expensive than the non keyless go keys.
Thanks for the advice. I'll probably get another e-class from another dealership because the guy said he would not replace the keys. But it seemed like a good deal cause he was selling a 2004 e500 4matic with panorama roof, navigation for 29,999.and the mileage is 43,000 However theres another e-class i was looking at thats an 2004 e500 4matic with sport pkg, panorama roof, navi and its for 32,999 but the mileage is 49k. Is the second one a good deal? The car seems to be mint condition and its fully loaded except keyless go.
What about a warranty?
Don't pay over $30K for a 2004 E500. Does either car come with a warranty? You should find out the cost of replacing the keyless go key. Maybe ask him to replace one key and not both, as you had requested. You'll then still have the keyless go feature for at least one person. All things being equal, I'd go for the car with less miles. Ideally I'd try to get either car for around 28K and then pay an extra $3-5K for a VERY good 100 miles/7 year warranty. This way for $31-33K total you'll have the car with peace of mind.
