Motorola V710 problems

I have an OEM MB phone system with the cradle and the Motorola V710 phone. I have put it in and taken it out so many times, the contacts on the bottom of the V710 are really scored and beaten up. I have used the techspray products, etc, to remove the oxidation from the brass contacts a few times, but it is getting harder and harder to get a good electrical fit in the cradle. Half the time, I have to try and re-seat it. A lot of times it doesn't work. I have also cleaned the male prongs in the base of the cradle. Question: Is there a way to move the MB software into a new V710 non-MB phone? I am kind of not fond of paying MB huge dollars for a V710 phone that I can probably get almost free from my carrier with another 2 year contract. The new V710 needs the MB software for the SAP profile in the MB.Thanks. Jimbo

Go ahead and install a MB Bluetooth Puck. Run your V710 off it through Bluetooth and you'll be able to extend the life of your V710.

My wife has it for the past 2 years and she is enjoying it. The only complaint is that BT does shorten her V710 battery life considerably

Good luck

Bluetooth Adapter

Ordered the B67875878 Bluetooth Adapter and will probably use it. I did clean the contacts on the bottom of my V710 carefully, sprayed and scrubbed the bottom with WD40 and a toothbrush and ran a little fine sandpaper over the male contacts in the cradle. So far, the phone has paired each time I placed it in the cradle. The only problem with Bluetooth is that the phone is not being charged, uses internal battery more, and doesn't use the car antenna. That being said, it does provide the ability to replace my V710 MB branded phone with many other non-MB phones that work with the Bluetooth adapter.

You are absolutely right that BT does use more juice and without the cradle, no built-in recharging .

BUT what my wife discovered that she doesn't forget her phone as much. When she had the cradle, quite frequently, she walks out of the car forgetting her phone.

As for the reception, I don't see much noticable reduction thru bluetooth. To address the power issue, I do have in the car a car charger attached to the cigeratte power adapter. That will cover the times when her phone is low on juice and needs a quick recharge

Hope this helps
