Replacing E500 Leather Seats

I recently suffered a semi-large tear in one of my rear leather seat cushions (behind driver) inside my 2004 E500W4. The leather color is black (charcoal - code 831) and unfortunately the cost to replace through MBUSA is $1,500. Does anyone know of a place, such as an online junkyard, where I might be able to find the leather to fix my seat? Thank you so much in advance for any help.

Take it to an automotive upholstery shop. They can order the exact leather you need & sew the panel into the rest of the "skin". You will never know that the car was damaged.

If your dealer had ordered the seat cover for you, they would have sent it and the car to the local shop for R&R. Find out who the (Ford/Chevy/BMW dealers in your neighborhood use for this sort of work. Or check your Yellow Pages "Auto Upholstery". (The paper book not the on line version)

You'll come up with a place like this: http://www.autointeriors.biz/About_A...t_AutoMat.html I don't know where you're located, but every city has these places. Damaged upholstery is more common than you think. Don't go and kill yourself over this.

Here's a place that supplies replacement leather seat covers: http://www.gahh.com/product_info.php...roducts_id=964

Looks like the leather alone is around $500, plus a few hours of labor at a local shop. Your best bet is to just go to a local shop and get a quote from them, but it doesn't look like you'll be able to get it done for less than $700 or so.

Saw this on ebay today... this is for a front seat but you may want to see if he can get the same for the rear.

Thumbs up Thank You

Thanks for all the help. I am going to try the upholstery repair route and see if that can help me avoid trying to acquire another leather seat cover. I would greatly appreciate any further suggestions! Thanks and regards!
