Unhappy Maybe its just me ??

no offense to any W211 owners,

was at the dealer looking at the new E class the other day,

for some reason, the back of the car reminds me of the new Camery ?? especially in lighter colors, anybody feel the same way ??

It should look somewhat like the back of the new camry, since the rear of the new E-Class is based off the S-Class (which came before the new camry). Toyota has always taken styling tips from Mercedes--even more so in their Lexus line.

Sorry guys !

The new E W211 rear = (Ford Taurus + Camry) / 2.
The front = (E W210 + Lexus GS 300) / 2.

Mercedes can do a better job then that !

I guess I'll keep my W210 and wait for the new W212. If It's too long then I may switch to BMW - the new 540.
Sorry Guys

Sorry Guys

Well, as long as you don't think 7 years is too long.........I'm sure the new 5 series is going to be a stunning looking car in comparison

History will show you that the Japanese have a tendancy to "learn" of upcoming Luxury car designs (especially German) and "rush" to market with a similar look on a lower-end car...before the Germans can release their car. At least this is my opinion.

I first noticed this back when the previous version of the C-Class came out. The Honda Accord came out before the C-Class...and shared in the look of the tail light.

Once may argue that Honda got to market first with a "look," but I am sure that insiders will tell you that the MB version of that similar look had been in development MUCH longer.

The Honda looks ugly. Mix and match styles from different cars sometimes gives unapealing results. The new Camry looks bloated and ugly also.

And the award goes to:

MiamiMBDriver

I'm surprised no one else here knew this.
The Asian car mfrs are famous for studying/stealing prototype designs for MB (in particular) then bringing them to market BEFORE the new MB models hit.

If you check back prior to any new MB class design, you'll see the design evolution ahead of time in various Hyundai, Daewoo, Toyota, etc.
