W211 introduction

I have read that the W211 will be presented at the Geneva Auto show in March. Anyone else heard this, or heard otherwise?

Geneva in March makes sense

And if it it is true, then I would think it would be in USA in the fall of 2002 as a 2003 model, with the AMG version in USA by April 2003...but this is theory base on circumstantial evidence.
Such as:
1. If it is going to be in the movie MIB II, then they why wouldn't they show it in Geneva?
2. New SL release timetable. It was presented to media in July 2001, European sales began ~ 4 months later, USA sales about 5 months after that, with AMG version to be released in Europe summer 2002, USA in Fall 2003.
3. Wishful thinking.

Is anyone else interpreting the E211 photos, as in the NY shots, as showing the new body side having an indent below the shoulder line as seen on the Ford Taurus, for example?

No, it looks like a logical evolution of the current E-class.

I certainly hope you're correct.

The first shot in the w211.htm link has what could be an elliptical reflection or shape above the body side molding and below the door latches between the wheels. There's a similar modeling in the same area on last shot from the passenger side.

In the second photo from the rear, the opened door appears to have a concave edge just below the latch level at the extreme left edge of the photo that could suggest a mild inward curve or sculpting at that level.

Hope not.

Where at that web site does it say that the new 211 will be shown?

It doesn't afaik. I think that's just a courtesy link. The translated material on another W211 thread, however, has "The kind of selling of the new e-class at 15.01.2002 on the Bruessler the autosalon will be," which seems to suggest/confirm the date and show.

The original was "Der Verkaufstart der neuen E-Klasse wird am 15.01.2002 auf dem Brüssler Autosalon sein. Die Premiere in den Showrooms wird sie am 23."

BTW, while looking at a new C-class today, I noticed it has a slight concave sculpting in the area in question, so I guess the answer to my question above about the photos is probably yes.
