I am 64 (an old fahrt). I do performance driving instruction for Porsche Club, BMW Club and whomever wants my services (like,TrackTime).

If you ride as my student, you get a ride in my Porsche 911 GT3.

I guess you could say that I'm 64 going on 35!

Congratulations on the retirement and the car.

V8 Vantage has got to be just about the best looking car on the planet.

Sounds great too.

Please give us a review of the car as I have been eyeing the Aston for a few weeks now.

It's an amazing car, especially for people like me who just can't get excited about a 911 and who think the Audi R8 is kinda ugly. I still can't believe that I'm actually getting one - I've owned exactly six cars in my life; I've had the Datsun since 1973. You're close to an AM dealer (Bauer) so you should check it out; my nearest AM dealer is 70 miles away. The '08 might be worth waiting for, though. It'll have a Sirius radio option and full iPod integration, among other new goodies.

Do any of you guys ever remember seeing a mounted turntable in the trunk or car interior??? I think it was in the late sixties.

You dog! I'd better start saving $'s fast. Never thought of trying to get that past my wife. How did you manage that?

Spectacular congratulation, btw. I do lust after those automobiles. Details?

I remember seeing a 45RPM deck mounted under a dash on the passenger side. You used to slide in the record & when it was over it would eject. You had to have a co-pilot/DJ in the car with you.

Do you remember a reverb unit mounted under the dash? When you went over a hard bump, you'd hear a loud crash as the spring inside vibrated from the bump.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been toying with the idea of a V8 Vantage simply because the 911 is such a common car and the R8 looks hideous. My wife wants a convertible and from what I have rad in Car and Driver and Road and Track the Convertible handles much better given it has the stiffened up chasis.

Too bad the DB9 is simply too much and I havent reached a mid life crisis yet lol. Anyhow, congrats, I know its one hell of a car.

What options did you get btw?

I don't think I've ever said this before on line, but....LOL. Yes I do remember. Boy did we think we had it good! I was driving a '66 Simca at the time. My counsin in arkansas had a red over black '66 Chevelle SS and, I believe, that was where I saw the turntable. (It was either that or he had a small keger in the trunk with hoses going to the cabin.) I've got to believe the thing skipped around so it was utterly useless.

By telling her that she could drive it when I'm not (little does she know how seldom that will be ) and by specifying unisex colors (dark red with medium-brown leather) instead of the usual silver or black with black.

Readings some of these posts reminds me of one of my favorite Sopranos lines, Uncle Junior: “We go way back, to when Moses wore short pants.” I’m not too far behind though I go back to an OEM eight track player in my first car, a ‘75 Chevy Monte Carlo - one of the first ordered with a metal sunroof delivered in ’74 a couple of months after graduating HS.

DWP, congratulations!!!

proud to be 55

Barry, I immediately got the connection to your userID but, tool me a minute for your avatar.

I have the E today while the wife takes the dog to the vet. This is a very sweet drive but, I have to watch the speedo, it's too easy to fly and think you're going 50
