E500 vs C32 AMG

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and looking to turn in my '00 V8 Lincoln LS for an '03 Mercedes. I'm kind of torn between the C32 AMG & the E500. The E500 is the same size with a V8 as the LS, although on Edmunds there were alot of reviews of electrical problems. The C32 AMG has great reviews, but seems a little small.

Can I get some feedback from people with experiences with these two Mercedes?

Thanks.

Here are some pics of my Lincoln LS:

I have a C280 and I'm gonna replace it soon for an S-Class (pre-owned) just for the space and of course it has a demanding appearance Now if you feel that the C32 might be small then go for the E500. Test out the C32 and E500 and make your decision from there. I would look into the carfax history of both cars. good luck...

I'd take E. You will feel uncomfortable in C after LS.

Mostly likely you will lean more on the E-Class

Re:E500 vs. C32

I was seriously considering a CPO C32 w/10K miles back in 05 when I got my E500. The C32 is fast, a real pocket rocket, but the E500 is no slouch. The C32 corners better, but rides harsher. The C32 is pretty small.

I ended up going with the E500 because it was new, is bigger inside and outside, has more content and refinement, i.e. air matic, full leather, Xenons, etc. and is a more balanced car. I have never regretted my choice.

You did not say what year the E500 you are considering, if a 2003 or early build 2004, they were known to be more temperamental. I would also be wary of abuse with a used C32.

Good luck and let us know what you choose.

I test drove a C-Class and it was too small. So I'll be keeping an eye on the local market for a nice E500. Again, thanks for the responses.

It all depends on how much space you need in a car, like if you drive often with 3 passengers or have kids, or you might be 6'2 like me. It also depends on how much faster do you want to be. Both cars are faster than your lincoln with the c32 being alot faster, my friend has a 03 ls v8 so thats how I know. They both have more power/luxury than the LS, so its the one with more power over luxury OR the one with more luxury but still good power.

The problems will have been fixed under warranty by now.

'06 never had them in the first place.

In my opinion, I would search around for a low mile E500 Sport. You get the luxury and extra room of the E-Class with a sportier look and feel. It has the bird's eye maple (grey wood) trim as opposed to brown, air suspension, sportier wheels, xenon's, and sportier side and bumper skirts.

Thanks PetePap, I was wondering what the differences are with the Sport Package. I really like the styling of the W211, although a W210 AMG would give the power and the space.......

How much do you think I would have to mod to get a W211 up to 350hp?
If its less than $4k, than I'll definetly be leaning towards the W211.

BTW I'm only 5'7 (head room & leg room not important) married, with no kids, but I like the mid-size cars, even though I rarely use more than the front 2 seats in the LS.
