I would also like some advise on warranties. I have an 2006 E350 (purchased Aug. 2006) and I was sent a letter from MB stating that my warranty is almost up and was suggesting I buy an extended warranty. I haven't had any problems yet with my car and I have 10,000 miles on it now. Any thought on buying the extended warranty on my car? I don't really want to spend that much money on a warranty. My first scheduled maintenance is also coming up in a few thousand miles by the way.
How could your warranty be almost up? You should have until Aug/2010 or 50K miles, whichever comes first.

I'm a new MB owner and have not had a chance learn the warranty contents. I"ll have to take another look at that letter. Anyone out there care to educate me? Is there a part of the warranty that will no longer be covered after one year? If I have until 2010 then I guess I should just lean back and live care free for a while.

You're all set for 48 months or 50K miles, whichever comes first.

I got a letter like that too... My car was delivered 2/28/07, & now has almost 3,000 miles on it (Three Thousand). The dealer probably triggered that form letter by carelessness or innatention to details, and you have years to go, and thousands of miles to go before you should have gotten it.
However, if you are sure you will keep the car after the factory warranty is used up, it is cheaper to buy the MB Extended Warranty during the 1st year, than the 2nd, 3rd, or later, as the price goes up each later year.
I know I would not keep my car 1 day or 1 mile without an all inclusive warranty from MB, original or extended.

whew...Thanks Benz-o
I thought I would have start babying that car and drive the speed limit for the rest of it's life. In response to Barry, I wish I was rich enough to always think of buying a new MB. Mine is not a lease so I will be keeping it until it burns up so I guess I will have to think about the extended warranty. Is it a big difference from the first year to the second.

MB stopped the free maintenance program after 2004. While your 07 E350 has a 48month/50K mile warranty, the scheduled maintenance (like service A) will not be covered. It will most likely run about 300.00

I would NEVER own an MB w/o an extended warranty. That said, I purchased a 4 year warranty from a highly recommended warranty company. Even the dealer said they never had a denial from warrantydirect.com. Saved almost $2K.

If you intend to keep the car I think the Extended Warranty on an MB is a no-brainer. 4 Grand out-of-pocket won't buy you very much in the way of a major repair at your MB Service Center.

We decided to get the MB extended warranty when we bought our SL. We thought of it as insurance as well as peace of mind. Benz' aren't cheap to fix and it hurts to pay everytime you pay to fix it. This way, it's done and paid for. If we come out close to even, the aggravation of having to pay for everything is eliminated (eventhough it was prepaid). It's just a mindset. BTW, ever consider a CPO? It extends the warranty one more year and up to 100k. If you get car with 1.5 years left on the warranty and around 45k, you should be good to go without paying for an extended warranty provided the price is right.

It depends on where you get the warranty. If you are after the period in which you can by and MB extended warranty then you will have to get one from a third party. Even if you buy it at a MB dealership it will be a brokered third party warranty, as mine is (I believe it is called Easy Care). My warranty covers the car for up to 100,000 miles or seven additional years. I will be responsible for the first $100 of any repair, after which the warranty will cover the rest. The deductible per repair will depend on the extended warranty itself. You can sometimes get a smaller deductible by paying a higher price up front.

I just had my '03 E500 in for a "Car too low" message. Lucky for me I paid the $2200 for the 7 year ext. warranty. The suspension compressor and relay was replaced along with the both front thrust arm assemblies(leaking thrust arm bushings). This was the second time the bushings were leaking. The bushings seem only last 24k mi on LA streets. Will I have more than 4k in future repairs?
I would hope not.

I have a W210 that I kept past the standard warranty.
At the time, I wanted to get the extended warranty through MB but they would not cover if your car is within 6 months of expiration of the original factory warranty (not sure if this is still the case).
I kept track of all my expenses after the warranty period and sure enough, it's more than $4000.
My advise, get the MB extended warranty.

I just got a 2004 E500 last week with 56k.
I think I'm gonna buy this warranty. It's $2600 for 4yr/60,000 additional miles.

As many have said, for an MB, a warranty provides peace of mind. I owned a 92 400e before this and the repairs got crazy after awhile. It's nice security and a must for any Mercedes.
