E Class .. Comforting To Know ..

Was just visiting a Lexus 460 Forum ... because the 460
was pretty high on my consideration list.

While I've often stated, here, how much I like the Lexus
electronics ... it was “somewhat” interesting to note the
complaints from new 460 and 460L owners:

Wind noise
Tire noise
Jerky and hesitant transmission

Owners believe that Lexus WILL fix these problems. I’m
sure they will. (Except the tire noise; I don’t know what
they can do about that.)

So, it’s kind of comforting to know that very few people
seem to complain about the 07 E class. This means that
- though there are no changes in the 08 E’s, this further
bolsters our cherished “comfort level” for the 08s.

Too bad for Lexus. They love to tout MB reliability rate.

I laugh at the spiel I get when I go to a Lexus dealership. Their salespeople have been given a whole litany of misinformation about Mercedes which they will repeat for you. The last guy who educated me had been selling Fords the week before.

They don't like it when you point out that the Germans had done the R&D on almost everything worthwhile on their cars. They also don't like it when you ask what you are supposed to do with the batteries in the Prius when they need replacing.

With all due respect I'd appreciate it if MB would perhaps invest a little bit more "R&D" in the electronics department.

It's all a matter of priorities. What's more important, safety or gadgets? Besides, with Dr. Z now in charge, things are getting back to normal.

EVERYTHING is important now. By your reasoning, ...Whats more important, a car that can go fast... or a car that can stop well?

You CAN have it all, and should have it all. MB didn't fall to dead last because they were doing the right thing. It took them long enough to fix the E Class. You can bet the next one will have it all.

"Too bad for Lexus. They love to tout MB reliability rate."

This might be a reason Lexus sales love to tout MB reliability rate.
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211/199739-breaks-failed-2003-e320.html

And the reason for failure is not that he has a 2003 MB since he has had all recalls and tsb's performed on his SBC system. There are others with the same problem so this is not unique. Like barry45rpm said would you "rather go fast or stop fast."
Also with the noise issue look up the S-class forum and you have someone complaining about the wind noise in their new S-class also. It's not that the S-class and LS have wind noise issues it the fact that those cars are so quiet that any noise is heard.
The tires on Lexus cars are total sh@t. Don't understand how they put such noisy crappy tires on all their cars ranging from the IS to the LS. All owners complain about the tire noise, stupid area to try to save money. And also the tires they put on their cars are all to thin, not wide enough for proper grip.
All I can say would be that I want a car that can handle like a bimmer, design of a E-class, luxurious ride of a benz and quietness and reliability of a Lexus.
